Before you buy.
I'm sorry, but I precive them as a threat to my so loved hobby. I spend
a lot of time in front of the computer at work and here, but I actually
like the 'smelly chemicals' as a change from the daily rat race. I also
like to talk about the traditional photographic process and I don't want
to talk about bits and bytes, printers and inks in this group. This
place is special to me.
I do a little digital myself, due to the publishing involvement. Some of
it is beautiful and it is an art form in itself deserving attention and
a place, but not everywhere. Oil painting is image making too, yet we
are not talking about canvas and brushes here.
Am I off target?
There must be a digital news group, isn't there?
Ralph W. Lambrecht
Many. rec.photo.digital and at least a couple of groups for
Photoshop. Also groups for other graphics programs.
Some discussion of digital methods is inevitable here but mostly it
belongs in other groups. For one thing questions are more likely to
get answers in them.
I must deal with digital television for a living so digital imaging
is no novelty to me, its nice to be able to escape it sometimes.
OTOH, if you are really knowledgible and facil with Photoshop you
can make a very good living from it. Main advice, run it on a Mac and
stuff the machine with as much RAM as it will take.

How you doin'? I haven't been on the newsgroup much lately, but it's nice
to see you're still here. I have, however, been lurking about the
alt.home-theater.misc lately, because I'm in the market for an HDTV. Got
any recommendations for something under $10,000? Seems I've heard you're in
that business.
