Please note that on or around July 15, 2009, AT&T will no longer be
offering access to the Usenet Netnews service. If you wish to continue
reading Usenet newsgroups, access is available through third-party vendors.

Here is one alternate provider. I have not used them, but I may.

http://www.supernews.com is another. I use it. It is not free, but it
is reliable and fast.
Supernews is now owned by Giganews.

I signed up with giganews many years ago and have been very happy with their service.

I should mention that while giganews isn't free it's very cheap.
This is a troll. Note the "mismatch" in the route
trace.

Actually at&t posted this to their server only. It was even in a moderated
group.

It's free, but it doesn't keep the messages around for a really long time.
Good to see people (the same ones!) are still listening in. My darkroom
isn't getting nearly as much use as my computer!

Well a few of us are still around. I ansered your
e-mail.
I was wrong big time about the message from AT&T being
a troll. A lot of former news group people have gone over to
web based forums of various sorts. That may have some
advantages and I am a member of several but I still like
Usnet best.
I'm using Fort's usenet service
(http://www.forteinc.com/apn/index.php), and have no complaints. At
2.95 for 12 gigs/mo it's a steal.
