Hi,

Stupid me accidentally got a very tiny water droplet on the very center of a color negative exposure. This little innocent
droplet has done some serious damage. It looks like the emulsion is bubbling where the water was. Is there anyway to clean
this mess and restore the negative?

Regards,
DAT

Just soak the neg in water with photo-flo for some minutes and let it
dry. Even better would be a mixture of some 30% isopropyl-alcohol, 70%
distilled water and photo-flo, because it for sure doesn't cause any
drying marks and the neg dryes quickly.

On the other hand, if you just let the spot dry the emulsion shouldn't
show any damage except maybe for a drying mark. If you see a drying
mark proceed as said above.

Klaus.

If you process your own stuff you can try soaking the negative for a
few minutes and giving a dose of stabilizer bath.
Klaus's recommendation is OK, and is what I would say for B&W but
for color the trace of stabilizer is important, although, of course of
no value if the negative is ruined.
This treatment may not fix the problem. What has happened is that
the emulsion swelled where the water drop was and has shrunk back
unevenly. Sometimes this results in a displacement of the image which
is permanent.
