The Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center is very unhappy to report that our
rescue is too full. All of our fosters have more dogs than they can
comfortably handle. The rescue center itself is overrun. There are dogs
that we have recently rescued that we have not even had a chance to list
on our home page yet.

This past week was a nightmare of give-ups, and calls from shelters, with
no adoptions at all. We realize that things are the same for rescuers and
shelters all over. This is the time of year when people dump their animals.
Almost no one adopts.

Until we start moving some of the dogs we have, we cannot take any others
out of shelters, or from people who are desperate to give up their dogs.
This means many dogs will have to die. We are hoping to avoid as much of
the unnecessary killing as possible. If you are interested in any of our
wonderful dogs, please visit our home page to read about them, and see
their pictures. The more we place, the more we can save. The URL is
listed below.

At the moment, we have learned that there is a very pretty buff American
Cocker Spaniel languishing (with many other purebred dogs and heaven-knows-
how-many mixes) at the Fairfax Animal Shelter. We do not know the sex of
the Cocker as yet. The shelter is located at 4500 West Ox Road in
Fairfax, Virginia 22030. The number is 703-830-1100. If you can help
this poor dog, or any of the others there, please call right away. There
is no time to waste. Shelters are bursting this time of year, and just a
few seconds can mean the difference between life and death for too many of
these unfortunate animals.

For more information, you may contact Valerie Macys at the address below,
but the best thing to do is to call the shelter directly. If you cannot
adopt, please spread the word about the Fairfax Cocker and the others, as
well as all the needy dogs on our home page.

Thank you for your kind consideration in this most urgent matter.

Sincerely,

Valerie Macys
