Thank you very much.

I miss this group almost as much as I am missing my dog.

I'm sorry about Abigail. It hurts to lose a much loved pet especially after
all those years.

Muttley and I offer our condolences as well.

RPDB does seem to be much less active than it was. If you take out posts by
TPW, it seems that most of the regulars have gone away since midsummer.
Apparently Facebook and Twitter and perhaps some moderated forums like
www.victoriastilwell.com, www.dogsey.com, and
http://community.sessionswithcesar.com/forums/ have taken over. Usenet is
seldom used.

What a fantastically long life she had. My condolences.

Thank you all for your condolences. I don't really understand why, but
knowing others understand the pain of such a loss helps to withstand that
loss.

Abi was suffering renal failure and being subjected to daily sub-q fluids,
severe diet restrictions, horrible bouts of vomiting, all sorts of vile
things, even though her bun was not really high, it was in the "low high"
range. However, she continued to suffer anorexia, weight loss, and then
terrible increasing bouts of staggering. I kept telling the vet about her
staggering, but he sort of passed it off as a symptom of her renal disease.
Finally, on the Sunday night after Christmas, she had another horribly
restless night, with the aforementioned digestive problems, and could no
longer control her hind legs enough to lay down or stand back up.........she
would just stand. I got her to the vet, he took one look and said "that's
neurological, she has some problem in her cerebellum, probably a tumor."
The only thing to do was obvious. Abi had seen me through the darkest times
of my life and I had to see her through the end of hers.

Abi was bitten by a rattlesnake, in the face, in 2000. She spent 5 days at
Colo. State Univ. vet school. The damage to her kidneys and the cause of
her brain disease could well be attributed to that incident. She was truly
the best dog in the world. Her pain and confusion are over.

Thanks for "listening".

PS..............I just realized I made a terrible typo..............she was
born in 1995, not 1985.........14 years, 1 month, 3 days. Wow, I only wish
she had lived that long.
