Would I be able to dye it safely? How?
Does anyone know where to get that wonderful white, soft cotton rope used
in some large bird toys? It's about 1/2 inch diameter.
This may sound silly, but I don't know! Do birds ever get splinters stuck
in their tounge? Thanks, Carol
In argument to the previous posts' post ... I would have to say that
the birds do care what color the wood is. My birds ... a Blue Crown
Conure and a Senegal will most ravishingly go after a cool colored -
food-colored piece of pine before a plain beige piece.
Food color - as I am told is not harmful to birds. Use your judgement
- don't completely saturate it ... just make it interesting for the
bird ... the easier they can destroy it ... the funner it will be!
Also, if you can stimulate your bird into playing with a colorful,
safe toy that it can master and shred into pieces, the happier your
bird will be than it will if it sat staring at a boring wood-colored
piece of wood all day! Gloria

Food coloring is non-toxic, other wise it would be toxic to us,
though on a larger scale. Also, try useing nature dies, ie Grapes/juce for
purple ect ect ect. Will probly flaver the wood a bit as well.
