Well, we went, and the weather was cloudy and cool. The lines were not
bad. We only had to wait about 1 or 2 ride cycles to get on most
rides. Prices were reduced for Latina Day. The Phantom Flyers were
really fun yet the little kids were not scared of them. Food was way
too expensive, like most parks are. I always recommend bringing
sandwiches. The Thunder Road coaster was closed. The "helicopters"
opened later in the day. It started pouring rain around 4:30p, but we
were ready to go home by then. Bathrooms were dirty, as I've heard.
The smaller, higher enclosed waterslide tubes were pushing so much
water up my nose that I had to hold my breath once I was halfway down
the tube. But they were otherwise fun. The kids really enjoyed holding
hands while floating on the innertubes in the circular river path.
I've only been to Florida theme parks before, and it's interesting to
compare. I like the way that Disney, Universal, Busch Gardens, etc.
really emphasize the theme of attractions: While you're in line, signs/
video explain who the characters are, what they're trying to
accomplish, etc. And they keep the place CLEAN.
I wonder how Carowinds got the rights to use the words "Haunted
Mansion" for the Scooby-Doo ride?
