I sure hope Obama is watching the news since his staff don't tell him
anything. Those poor people may not get any disaster relief, otherwise.

I don't care for him, but he has already called the Governor and
offered help. Moore, OK, is almost gone. There were two schools hit
and it looks like there will be many fatalities. It is almost
impossible to use cell phones. It looks like all Cox phones in the
OKC area are down. It is recommended that you use text messages to
get in touch with anyone here in the OKC area.

It's up to Congress.

Think back to Super Storm Sandy when lots of Congress Critters from the
midwest voted against giving aid to New York and New Jersey.

You had to get your call in early. ;-)

I called relatives in Moore shortly after the tornado went through town and
landlines were not a problem. Our relatives had come out of the cellar,
quickly checked their property and then answered my call. They didn't have
any damage, but said there was debris scattered around their yard an clothes
on their roof.

I also called friends in Newcastle without any problems. They had been in
their cellar, had no damage to home or RV, but didn't have electric service.

Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) voted no on Sandy. Payback could be
interesting. What will be really interesting is if an aid package
just sails through.

George, you make me proud of the fact that I changed party affiliations from
Republican to Libertarian 30 years ago.

Now I just spoke in haste and don't want to give an impression that I think
you represent all Republicans and I don't want to be accused of painting
with a broad brush and smearing some good people who would take real
umbrage, and rightly so, with being compared to you.

D'ja ever notice that, when the newsies interview someone "representing" the NRA, they go find some 350 lb, greasy, tattoooooed, bald, illiterate in camo fatigues ?

He is supposed to represent the NRA, and, by extension, all gun owners.

George is to the R party what that guy is to the NRA.

They stated at the time, they did not have a problem with aid for
Sandy victims, but they did have problems with all of the unrelated
spending.

I notice that Brucie is keeping quite on what he thinks of our government, giving out federal aid for the tornado disasters in Oklahoma? He probably just sees it as yet another example of the government, stealing wage earner's money, so they can give that money they've stolen to someone else who did not earn it?

That was your first thought? After I saw some of the videos on TV, my first thought was that I wished I lived closer. If I thought I wouldn't add to the chaos, I'd drive my RV out there and help with cleanup.

the area. They were my first thought. Secondly, I found out from them what
kind of help people needed and I sent some of my people with supplies and

Max,

We have locals helping with the recovery. Chesapeake Energy, with
headquarters in OKC, stepped up first with a million dollar donation. Other
local energy companies came forward with another $5.5 million in donations.
Then Kevin Durant, the number 1 player for the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA
team, gave a million dollars. That was followed by the Thunder giving a
million dollars and that was followed by the NBA giving a million dollars.
I am sure the donations won't end there!
