Painting/Refinishing help on an older RV

bottom (below the stripe down the side and down by the compartment doors in
a class A). I've asked a bunch of RV'rs about it, and they all said "Take it
to a car/truck paint place". I don't have the money for that sort of place,
and was hoping you folks may have some ideas for making the lower portion
look better.
Newer RV's usually have a different type of finish on the lower part. Mine
doesn't have that but I have no problem with doing the entire lower part
below the stripes and not have to worry about matching colors. It's a 1984
and doesn't have to be perfect, but anything I do is bound to look better
than it is now. Any ideas?

good roller and have at it. It's bound to look better than it does now,
and most likely will look better than the one I saw painted all over with
lime colored house paint with yellow daisies pasted all over. Be sure to
mask the edges with masking tape made for masking paint on metal. It cost
a little more but is well worth the cost. Have fun!

No, I don't sell paint! He said he didn't want to spend much money on the
old motorhome, and the latex enamel WILL stay on a few years if proper
prep is done in advance.

I always liked the idea of colored shelf paper..do it in several layers of
differnet colors. Then if you get boored with the current color, spend some
time peeling off the top layer and a get a new color.

I painted my mail box and support post over 5 years ago with the stuff,
and they still look good. Have other things that I painted since,
including the frame of the trailer. It's lasting better than the so
called rust preventers ever did.

I have used the latex paints on metal structures with good results,
just never used it on any automotive applications. Don't see why it
wouldn't work though..

Shortly after I moved to GA in 85, I bought a beatup International Scout
to hunt with. It needed painting, so I sprayed it with latex exterior
house paint (flat olive drab). It was still on it when I sold it a few
years ago. The color was a bad choice, though - I temporarily misplaced
it twice in the woods at night.
And since I occasionally had to involuntarily leave it somewhere for a
day or two, I made a sticker for the back window:

Years ago, when Peugeot bicycles were the most expensive ones, a New York
City dweller got tired of having to continually replace his stolen
bicycles. So, the next Peugeot bike he bought he painted with many
different cans of spray paint. It reportedly was an ugly sucker. But he
still had the enjoyment of riding a quality machine. The multi-colored
bike hadn't been stolen the last I heard <G> .
