Mary and I are back in a "stuck to the dirt" home, as Janet called it.
This is our second day in the place, located here in Florence, AZ. It's
a small place, 896 sq feet, but huge compared to our MH where we lived
for the last 9 years.
One of our lots in the RV resort is sold, the second one is on the
market, the MH is on the market and future travel plans are, as of now,
up in the air. We may travel by car, and we may get an older class C,
but for right now we're busy moving into our new place and arranging
things the way we want them.
A new adventure begins.

RV travel is great, and we did it for a half century. But there comes a
time when it is more convenient to stay put.

Say "Hi" to Mary for us, Bob.
We'll get in touch next time we are through the area, which will be when the
temperature there drops to a level compatible with human life. We should be
coming that way around November.

I'm betting that, like us, you'll find a little class C in your future.
We tried to stop RVing, but it gets in your blood and is impossible to
avoid. :-)

..... at least that is what they tell me ... first summer here.. at
this point we still have our MH and 3 houses.. one of which is for sale
... I have reached the point where I can't remember where I left
something much less which place I left it in....

the MH for summer use. We chose a place where winters are mild
and summers are fit for human existence.
My back yard is a treat to the eye. Grapevines cover one wall and
it looks like a bumper crop. Two large pots are loaded with
roses in bloom, blooming ivy is draped from a hanging pot and
covers an area of about 5'X5". A couple of hanging spider
plants, a large pot withblooming ice plant and a honeysuckle bush
I brought from MN. A peach tree that is loaded with fruit and
one I started from seed. A giant geranium that has survived a
couple of winters and has 52 clusters blooming. Two pepper plants
I grew from seed in 2011, one already has an orange pepper on
it. A lilac and wild grapes I brought from MN. Three pots of
chrysanthemums, one I tricked into blooming now instead of
waiting for Fall. An ash tree and a Chilean Mesquite for shade.
The front yard has a huge agave and a blooming yucca, 5 geranium
pots, a large pot with Rosemary and another with petunias and a
European daisy. Also a Mimosa tree just leafing out. A live oak
and another rose bush on the other side of the driveway.
Keeps me active and gets a lot of comments from our fellow park
residents.

It's all good, Bob. Alternate means of travel and accomdations doesn't
mean you will be "stuck In the dirt." We had our last long trip in
2010 from the Olympic Peninsula all the way to San Diego and then back
with lotse side trips along the way. Then it was time to sell the MH
and we did. I have to say I don't miss the maintenance on that 37'
delight and all the prep work it takes for a trip. Now that we are
older we don't miss it. Yet we have done lotsa travel anyway.
Our family is very scatered now and it's easier to see them doing it
in a SUV and snow birding to Palm Springs where we have owned a Condo
for 20 years. At our age it is now way earier to cover more ground to
see 14 Grandkids and 3 Graet Grandkids (plus one due next month). We
are now more busy than ever.
Go for it, Bob. Life is still good.

riding I-40 on the Goldwing sometime on the 8th. Before we get there we
also want to ride the loop around Sunset Crater and we're looking forward to
that dumb corner on I-40 in Winslow, AZ on the 8th for photo ops, too. We
plan on heading south out of Holbrook on 180 then taking the Petrified
Forest Road north back to I-40 and then spending the night of the 9th in
Chinle.

During July the high last year in Florence was 109 with a low of 89.

camper? Did you get rid of it already? Did you not like pulling it
or was it too small?
I am currently in the market for a camper to pull behind my Goldwing.
I am contemplating a trip to Alaska and staying in the camper. Am I
making a mistake? Any advice you care to pass along?
