Hey Landfill, I think you make some valid points here, but you also
miss some important ones, so I'm going to take the time to make a few
comments about what you have to say.

This is true, the term is often mis-used as a way to discredit someone
that one or more people disagree with. On this group many of the people
hollering "Troll" the loudest are themselves trolls.

You only manage to do this in a small percentage of your posts. Many
of your posts are just a cut and paste of something that's little more than
propaganda for the Democrats. When you're in one of your less lucid phases a
lot of what you post is just childish gibberish.

lol, This is often the case, but the people here are a mixed bag. For
some folks, when you present something they strongly disagree with, *that*
is going to be their reaction and there's nothing anyone can say that will
change that.

Some folks never progress past that point, and that's just the way it
is. Deal with it. Whining about it isn't going to help you a bit.

To my way of looking at it trolls come in several varities. Some folks
are just out to create noise and they're just trolling for flames. They're a
classic and simple variety of troll. Another kind of troll is primarily
interested in promoting their cause. Serdar Argic is the classic example of
this sort of troll. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serdar_Argic His cause was
the Armenian Genocide. His version of what happened was the one true version
and he wasn't interested in any facts or opinions that disagreed with him.
We have a number of trolls that more or less fit that mold, but their cause
is some version of American politics that they feel strongly about. Much of
the time you fit this mold too.

>
> --Brought To You By The ERUDITE EDUCATOR of Southern Utah

lol, You do seem to get around the West don't you.

Here's the thing: A lot of folks aren't here to be educated, or at
least not be educated about anything other than RVs and RVing. Some folks
are just here to be entertained. Some folks are primarily here to promote
their point of view. Some folks are mostly here to let off a little steam.
There are all sorts of reasons people read and post on newsgroups. If you're
just here to be an educator you're going to find that a lot of people aren't
interested and some folks, more or less automatically, aren't going to be
interested in your brand of education no matter what you're selling.

If being widely kill filed bothers you there's a simple solution. Be at
least mildly interesting consistently. You do this from time to time, but
not consistently. Much of what you post is extremely childish and worse
still--boring. At times you're not doing much other than cut and pastes of
material that wasn't particularly interesting to anyone but you to start
with. There are any number of trolls here, past and present, who manage to
have enough interaction here to satisfy them by meeting this simple and
actually rather low standard. Will Sill was the classic example of that. He
was mostly here to share his personal brand of unpleasantness, but it wasn't
until he became REALLY boring that a lot of people stopped reading and
responding to his posts.

I know you're going to reject what I have to say about this, and to my
way of looking at it *that* is what makes you a troll. You're just the same
as the people you object to. You aren't really interested in what they have
to say. You just want to educate them. They aren't interested in what you
have to say either. They just want to educate, someone--anyone. (And
participate in mutual reassurance.) It's easy for them to killfile you
because they know you aren't going to listen to them and there's no chance
they're going to educate you. You present rational arguements so seldom that
you're easy to ignore.

(I have no use for usenet Shrinks and I'm not going to try to be one,
but the way you swing back and forth I've started to wonder if maybe you're
bipolar. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bipolar_disorder I'm not saying this
as a way to dismiss you, but as a way to try to understand what's going on.
Spalding Gray had it bad and he was still an interesting person to read.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spalding_Gray The thing that makes me wonder
about this is that you seem to start out new identities with more or less
good intentions and then, sooner or later, run off the rails again.) (I say
"more or less" good intentions because I thought the hippy chick in Eugene
identity, for example, was an identity that was intended to troll the
trolls. The "Erudite Educator" looks like another troll the trolls identity,
even if you are making a more or less rational arguement here. I mean,
seriously, even though there may be some need for it, how many people do you
think are really interested in "intellectual assistance? ;-) lol )

Will there be a charge for this analysis or is the "charge" simply the
internal pleasure you derive from doing it?

Hey, if I could get paid that would be wonderful. Until then I guess
I'll just have to do it for "shits and giggles", as one of my former
girlfriends used to say.

Do ya mean that it's actually possible that Looney Tunes, Janice
Whoreme, Carla the Nazi Bitch and others of similar ilk could actually
be trolls in disguise?

LOL, disguise, what disguise? The difference between all of you and
Serdar Argic is just a matter of degree.

Do you think elctroshock therapy or (gasp) perhaps mass forced frontal
lobotomies might be the answer for the poor deranged souls?

Nah, make them read usenet. It's just as likely to produce a "cure".

"Whining" might perhaps be a word a tad too strong to describe my
concern. Yasee I FEEL for these poor lost souls and consider it my
Christian duty to help them see the light and lead them from the
darkness of their doom and despair.

lol, Saint Landfill--I love it. Now all you need is a miracle, like
getting one of your buddies to see the light. Haw Haw Hawwwwww

But don't you see your role as an "educator" of sorts. Aren't your
illuminating and pointedly-intellectual posts designed to improve (and
even cure) the mental morass of the RORT masses too?

LOL, that would be a futile task. I'm here for my own amazement and
amuzement. Anything else would just be an exercise in frustration. Poking
holes in bullshit is just another of my many guilty pleasures. I like RORT
because there's an endless supply here.

> If being widely kill filed bothers you there's a simple solution.

LOLOLOLOL HAWHAWHAWHAWHAWHAW I look at being "killfiled" as sort of a
badge of honor and find it incredibly amusing since it validates my
opinion regarding the "head-in-the-sand" morons on RORT. Afraid to
face the reality of something and/or somone different, they crouch in
cowardly fear and hide behind their little filters. It's like a
little child telling his parents to "let me know when the scary part
is over" during a movie so "I can uncover my eyes and unplug my
ears." REAL men face differences head on; gutless chickenshits hide
behind a filter.

OTOH you also complain about the kneejerk reaction.

>I know you're going to reject what I have to say about this, and to my
> way of looking at it *that* is what makes you a troll.

I truly do not believe you are a medium and/or soothsayer and
therefore do not "know" whether or not I'm going to reject the
substance of your response so don't flatter yourself.

I'm not a medium, but we've been over this ground before.

>You're just the same as the people you object to.

Hardly, if we're measuring by IQ points, education, life experiences
and/or good looks.

Perhaps, but in the way you approach interactions here you're very
similar. It was like someone was saying about LZ being a reverse Black Hole.
A lot of stuff comes out, but nothing goes in.

>You aren't really interested in what they have to say.

Of course I'm not. Why would anyone be interested in listening to the
hackneyed babble of Carla, Looney Tunes, Whoreme or any other of those
Repuke halfwits?

You just want to educate them.

And they certainly NEED that!

(I have no use for usenet Shrinks and I'm not going to try to be one,

...and then he immediately violates the premise of his previous
statement and starts to play "shrink." HAWHAWHAWHAW

And the forked-tonguer who first states "I have no use for usenet
Shrinks and I'm not going to try to be one..." now proceeded to
"diagnose" a supposed condition without any credentials to do so,
without any license to do so and in violation of his own statement.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, forked tongue???

It's not even a working hypothesis. It's was just something that had
struck me and made me go, "hmmmmmmm..........?" It would explain why
sometimes you can be reasonably rational, by usenet standards, and at other
times just all caps and noise. There are numerous possible explanations that
are just as plausible.

You need to do a bit more research.

The term started a LOT of years ago on a BBS system that was for
fishing related posts. When someone started posting BS just to spur
answers and get people posting. He was accused of trolling, as in
trying to catch something by putting your lure out there for them to
see and bite. What he was doing was building the readership of the
BBS. It has eventually morphed into what we see today.

Exactly, if you don't HIS opinion or remarks, he's a troll.
Now if you really detest the poster, you call them a pedophile and keep
calling them that. Eventually everyone else picks up on it.

Tell a lie long enough, to enough people, it becomes a fact of truth.

Exactly - just like claiming that the mulatto in the White House is a
"Native Born US Citizen" or that a Democrat has ever been caught telling
the truth about anything or (even worse) that Algore's "Global Warming" has
ever been anything than pure BS.

But, then, that's been the central point of your existance since you
learned to say "Daddy" for each of your two parents.
