Rich, in your infinate bassin' wisdom...

1) What's the best trailer to attach to a Johnson Silver Minnow in order to
entice large green fish from beneath water chestnut? I'm thinkin 4" white
twistertail grub but your opinion is valued.

2) What other techniques do you use to fish water chestnut?

Guess where I'm goin' lol...

Thanks my friend...

I much prefer to drag a plastic bait over the nut to dragging a spoon over
it. I catch far more fish on the drop-back with a tube or a water widow
rigged behind a pegged, 1/2 oz weight than I ever did with a spoon. Plus,
when I do use a spoon in the nut, I'm far more likely to use a REXX spoon
than a silver minnow, and the only trailer I ever put on it is a plastic pork
frog. I also use a Salad Spoon across the nut, but I peg a 1/4 oz slip sinker
ahead of it.

Thanks Rich. I was thinking of trying those Lunker City Salad Spoons you
sent me, any reason you didn't mention them?

I'll buzz you before I leave for the Open next week.

?? Uhm... read my reply again.<G>

I put a slip sinker ahead of it in the nut because I want it to make a
bigger dent in the stuff.

But truth be told, I fish UNDER the nut a lot more tan I fish OVER the nut.
Read the article. Thundercat has it right. Then again, he spent two days in
the nut with me last year up at Champlain.

That's all well and good, problem here is that I'm fishing the "Am" side of
this Pro-Am. If I get caught behind a power-fisher that's working the top
I'll be screwed if I'm unprepared to do the same. Naturally I'll be
prepared to flip it too.

Thanks as always Rich!

Work the top with the T-rigged creature bait behind a half ounce pegged
sinker. Then you can still drop it into the holes when he slows down a
notch. Truth is, that's the way I fish the nut 90% of the time. Same setup
for over the top and under it.

Hog? Color?

Well, I've naturally switched over completely to the Ozmo, but since they
aren't yet available to the public, that's not an option, so I'd suggest
going with the BH.

Color? Is there a color other than Green Pumpkin?

Well, yeah, there's Black w/ red flake, too. But if I only had ONE, it's
initials would be GP.

Hmmm, if you were to send me some Ozmo's, and I was to win the tournament, I
could say

"I caught em on a prototype creature bait from LUNKER CITY..."

Could be a windfall for LC, think about it ;-)
