I can't vouch for the accuracy of this article. Frankly I find it hard
to believe that you can legally go nude anywhere in the city of
Barcelona.

Naturism is winning followers throughout the world. Some people see it
as a way of life, some people think of it as an aberration and yet
others see it as a great business. In any case, it seems that this
phenomenon does not stop spreading. Despite this, naturism is still
seeking its place in a society that seems increasingly tolerant.

nudist-naturalist

Countries like Germany have a long naturism tradition. In the case of
Spain, it is a more recent phenomenon. Only two decades have passed
since the crime of public scandal was abolished, a law inherited from
the Franco regime that could be applied in case someone offended
“decency or morality with scandal or acts of grave importance”. But
years have passed and nudism has been implemented gradually. For
example, in Barcelona, there is a long list of naturist beaches. Today
the law protects Spanish nudity on the beaches and the city itself is
a nudist town. One can go without clothes in the street if they so
wish.

In fact, the city has some urban naturist beaches near these metro
stations: Barceloneta, Ciutadella, Bogatell, Poblenou, Llacuna, Selva
de Mar and El Maresme Forum. The beaches of Sant Sebastian, Nova
Icària, Bogatell, Mar Bella, Nova Mar Bella and Llevant, with all
sorts of services - from supervision to the hire of sunbeds and bars -
are the most famous.

But not all the nudist beaches of Barcelona are located in the city.
In Sitges, for example, there are two popular nudist beaches: the Home
Mort beach, whose access is a bit complicated, and semi-urban Balmins
beach, with golden and fine sand.

In the Maresme area there are numerous beaches to choose from: as the
Ponent beach in Masnou, with pedestrian access; another easily
accessible beach is the Musclara beach, in Caldes d’Estrac. It also
has waitress service, fine sand and it is located at the end of the
maritime club; other interesting nudist beaches are the Forti beach,
the Mataró beach, the Murtra beach in Sant Pol de Mar, and the Roca
Grossa beach, in Calella.

In the Garraf area there is the small Morisca beach and in the Baix
Llobregat area, the Parque de las Dunas beach, (in Castelldefels),
with the nudist area near Gavá.

But in Barcelona there are not only nudist beaches: you can also find
nudist pools as the Bernat Picornell, close to the Palau Sant Jordi on
Montjuic, which open to nudists on Saturday from 21:00 to 23:00 hours
and in winter from 16:15 to 18:00 hours on Sundays (beginning on
October 7th).

Do not wait any more to discover this new way of life! Feel freer and
more connected with nature by practising naturism! Stay in apartments
in Barcelona for a pleasant and cheap stay!

Yes.

Yes. A big impulse came from tourists from countries like Germany.

Yes.

Yes.

Yes. There are many elsewhere in Spain as well.

No. This is an urban legend. Anyone who believes this should travel to
Barcelona and try it out. The ONLY thing that has changed is that one
can't use this law forbidding "public scandal" to prosecute someone for
being nude (since this law no longer exists). However, there is nothing
in Spanish laws which explicitly allows nudity (except at beaches
designated as nudist beaches). Think about it: if one could be nude
everywhere, why do they need specially designated nudist beaches? In
other words, if you walk down the main street in Barcelona nude, you
can't be prosecuted on "public scandal" grounds, but other reasons can
be found to prevent you from doing so (disturbing the peace etc).

The Spanish equivalent of BN has been suggesting that since this
public-scandal law was abolished, nudity is now allowed everywhere.
However, this is neither the case on paper nor in practice. If they
aren't careful, their campaign will backfire. Of course, nudity isn't
explicitly forbidden in Spain, but then it is not explicitly forbidden
in the UK, but in practice one can't walk down the High Street nude and
expect to have no problems, legal or otherwise.

In my experience there is nudity on all of Barcelona's beaches
certainly in the town centre - just go to the sea front and turn right
and walk along about 100 metres towards the tower and you will soon
find naked Spanish people among those in swimming costumes. Turn left
and walk about 2 km past the fish and you will come across naked
people before heading on to the official nude beach frequented by lots
and lots of people. The furthest end of the official beach seems to be
an unoffical gay nude beach. Great place
