Daniel Johnson is one of those people who isn't happy unless he is in
conflict with "the Man." He has pushed the envelope on public nudity
one time too many it seems and someone has now pushed back.
Now I am talking about PUBLIC Nudity here. He has also been involved
in designated public places nudity (designed nude swimming events at
public facilities and an effort for a clothing optional beach in
Seattle) which I am indeed supportive of (although when it comes to a
public designated nude beach I fear that any such effort is doomed as
the experience of most other nude beaches is that they soon become
places where public sex occurs especially with Gay Males). But I have
never been supportive of any "in your face" general public nudity
effort where someone gets nude in a public place where nudity isn't
expected. He has been involved in the Marxist World Naked Bike Ride
which is what he got in trouble for.
But like I said he thrives on such controversy and has been pushing
people for quite some time now. So now he got the fight he has wanted
but I hope he finds out the old saying "be careful for what you wish
for" because perhaps he will be taught a lesson.
Here's another blog about Daniel Johnson. Please be sure to post
comments of support (I assume) there as well as trying to defend him
here.
I for one wouldn't have a problem with Daniel if it wasn't for his
public nude shenanigans and I commend his work for designated nude
activities. I wish he would just stick to designated nude swim
nights.
One thing I don't get is that he is very careful in his designated
nude swim nights in who he lets in. He requires people to go through
background checks. Now that part I am fully supportive of but what I
don't get is if he realizes that need for background checks for his
designated nude swim nights since such activities do attract pervs as
well as legit nudists why doesn't he get how a clothing optional beach
where people don't go through such background checks is doomed to
failure and more generally how public nudity is a bad idea because one
of course can't weed out the pervs there?
As you can see Daniel Johnson thrives on this stuff.
Perhaps a year with Bubba as his roommate might change his mind. It
would certainly discourage him from being nude in his cell.
Here is another blog you can post your support (or opposition) towards
Daniel.

And "Anna" is one of those guys who isn't happy unless he is in
conflict with rec.nude regulars (with, of course, the exception of
those who have him in their killfiles).
Funny how that works out. Like is attracted to like.
(Looking at self with disapproval.)
Eek! I guess we seek each other out.

SEATTLE -- A letter from the city that took Daniel Johnson by
surprise.
"The charge is for indecent exposure," he said.
If convicted, he could be sentenced up to 365 days and fined up to
$5,000. And it's all for a bike ride he took in the buff back in
September.
Johnson was among many others who also participated in the World Naked
Bike Ride. But it appears the group's "nude, not lewd" message has hit
a bump in the road.
"Sometimes it's a big pain in the butt -- that's figuratively," he
said.
He doesn't know who filed the complaint, but he says it goes against
his quest for conversation.
"Simplify their lives, consider cycling. It makes such a huge
difference in our carbon footprint," he said.
Johnson says he's disappointed there's now a legal reaction to a years-
long practice in the city.
"Kind of a sad waste of taxpayer's money, especially right now. The
city doesn't have money for this kind of thing," he said. "We'll see
how far they want to take it, I don't know. The ball's in their
court."
And if it comes to fighting back, Johnson is ready to ride.

Dear fellow WNBR Supporters,
As some of you may have heard recently I'm facing legal charges from
the City of Seattle for non-sexualized painted and naked cycling
during one of our recent events, World Naked Bike Ride 2009. I'm
facing a possible $5000 fine and 365 days in jail for this. In
addition to supporting our local push for clothing-optional beaches
(SEE LINK BELOW) please send a POLITE e-mail to new Mayor Mike McGinn
(who had NOTHING to do with my arrest BTW) to please reconsider
charges being brought against me in light of Seattle's long standing
(17+ year) tradition of seasonal, artistic, free spirited, family-
friendly clothing-optional bike rides. Please send your POLITE
concerns to the new Seattle Mayor at http://seattle.gov/mayor/citizen_response.htm
To add insult to injury newly defeated outgoing City Attorney Thomas
Carr had the order signed on Christmas Day! I've got only 11 days to
prepare now!
Naked painted cycling hardly my activity in life and any jail or fine
would be a massive disruption for me after a really difficult year for
me in 2009. I'm also very involved in the local community gardening,
raw food, permaculture + Sustainable Seattle (SCALLOPS) groups. Right
now I'm working on Parks Levy Opportunity Fund Proposals and also
fighting to install perennial edible gardens in Seattle's Parks. I've
actually just been able to score a meeting with the Superintendent
himself about this with a proposal for such a project at Green Lake
Park. I'm also a member of the Jefferson Park Food Forest project and
Picardo Farm Composting Toilet Committee and co-founder of the
Gardens Everywhere Bike Parade which had a hugely successful launch
last summer. In addition my first raw food event will be on Jan 25th,
free to the public at 100 Dexter, I cannot miss it!
Thank you for your consideration, and please ALSO SUPPORT NUDE BEACHES
IN SEATTLE with your vote below.

His reference to supporting nude beaches is to the webpage
http://www.ideasforseattle.org/pages/27772-general which shows the
issue of clothes-optional recreation as #3 on the list of Ideas for
Seattle which the new Mayor is expected to pay attention to (his
vision on http://new.seattle.gov/vision).
Support Daniel if you can!

> Naked painted cycling hardly my activity in life...
That is so untrue. Apart from being an organizer on the World Naked
Bike Ride he takes part in a monthly Bike Nazi protest called
"Critical Mass". Although this isn't billed a naked bike ride he rides
it nude (when weather permits).
http://www.seattlecriticalmass.org/
Also he organized last year "Gardens Everywhere" Clothing Optional
Bike ride
http://organicparty.org/images/GEBP2009_v04_1080.jpg
And he rides his bike nude during a Hemp Protest/Festival that they
have every year in Seattle.
So, as you see he spends a lot of time with Naked painted cycling.
