April's very cute. So I see apparently the old stadium is not crimbling
after awl. It looks like they've refurbished the whole thing. That gate
she's walking in may be new or it may be old. Me and Pops Wereo (Of Blessed
Memory) never to hardly used that gate if that's the gate I'm thinking of.
Or it may be new awltogether.
As you can see the place barely resembles the way it looks when I shot the
film. And sadly April didn't mention anything about the extensive music
program we had. As you know I saw awl the ancients here, including The
Beatles on August 28, 1964, Janis, Jimi, The Who, Frank Sinatra, Diana Ross,
The Momas & The Popas, Bob Dylan...oh so many I wasn't keeping track.
They've changed the whole layout of the place. Gone is the Grandstand where
I had my love affair with that California Jam-like camera every morning. The
place still rocks with Lifshine history though. I like the video, and I like
April.
There's a couple of more good videos about Forest Hills Tennis Stadium on
Youtube. One is a home-grown shot that's pretty descriptive and there's
another with a few actual seconds of Who footage. I surmise that's the real
stage because look how compact they are standing there. You know from my
films the stage is real small, tiny in fact.
I think it's astonishing that of awl the history this New York venue created
there's less than one minute of Who footage from the entire shebang. And my
films. I am the world's greatest filmmaker. I told you I could've drove a
soundtruck in there for the Beatles show or any other show and nobody would
give me a second notice. Now it's awl starting to come together for you.
