What's the name of the guitar technique where the musician drags his finger
down the neck, playing every tone between a starting and ending note?

How do you express that to a guitarist? Give me the finger? :-)

It's Glissando, and not unique to guitar....

Jerry Lee Lewis used to do that on the piano. Until last week, I
thought he was the only rocker, but then I heard it in the most
unexpected place. I can't remember who, but somebody like Elton John or
Paul McCartney. One of the big seventies bands, I guess; it's all I
ever listen to.

Of course, there's no name for the technique where you bang the heel of
your right foot down on the top octave of a piano keyboard, but Jerry
Lee did that, too. That must be why they called him The Killer. Don't
even bother looking for another performer who did that.

I always thought they called him 'The Killer' due a series of unfortunate
mishaps that occurred to the women he married.

PS....that dude from Lynyrd Skynyd does the keyboard gliss trick all the
time.

if you say "slide" i think every guitarist in the world would know
what it means & what to do.
