One of many messages on his Facebook page:

Alan O'Day, who had his own hit "Undercover Angel" in the mid 1970s
and is most known for writing "Angie Baby" and cowriting "Rock and
Roll Heaven" has passed away after a very courageous fight against
cancer.

My favorite O'Day song is by Anne Murray titled "Blue Finger Lou."

So does this send him to ROck and Roll Heaven, or is that just for actual
performers?

- not that i know of:

- al jackson jr, lewis steinberg, replaced by donald "duck"
dunn, steve cropper, & booker t. wa^W jones were the two
classic stax line-ups. jackson & dunn continued as just
the m.g.'s with bobby manuel & carson whitsett replacing
cropper & jones, for one lp.

- jones, cropper & dunn recruited willie hall, jackson
having been killed by a burglar, in spring '77 reunion
of booker t. & the m.g.'s.

- cropper & dunn were in the blues brothers band, the
blues brothers, film 1980 & soundtrack album.

- jones, cropper & dunn recruited steve jordan, in '92
reunion of booker t. & the m.g.'s; jordan was replaced
in 1994 by steve potts, jackson's nephew.

- that's all i know of, not having heard aught by them,
since the film.

- love, a ppint. as wouldn't mind hearing more by them
