This week's entry focuses on the new songs from May 28, 1977:
Peter Frampton - "I'm in You"
Heart - "Barracuda"
Neil Sedaka - "Amarillo"
Crosby, Stills & Nash - "Just a Song Before I Go"
Dave Mason - So High (Rock Me Baby and Roll Me Away)"
REO Speedwagon - "Ridin' the Storm Out"
Maze Featuring Frankie Beverly - "While I'm Alone"
Seven songs debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 this week,with three reaching the Top 40 and two rising into the Top 10. Those Top 10s were Peter Frampton's highest-charting single and a "comeback" for Crosby, Stills & Nash after seven years. One of Heart's fiercest songs is here, as is an REO Speedwagon tune that will be an "evergreen" for as long as Mother Nature is around to show her fury. Maze debuts for the first time, Neil Sedaka "covers" his own tune and Dave Mason sets a mellow mood.

One of the Hartford AMs that my parents listened to played the shit
out of "Amarillo" for about a month. Haven't heard it in 35 years,
though, nor have I missed it!

At this late date, it's hard to believe there was ever a time when REO
Speedwagon was considered a hip taste. But they were, right up until
"Hi Infidelity" made them Corporate Rock royalty.
One of the Hartford AMs that my parents listened to played the shit
