I just heard this great song after many years. I was surprised to find
out it *wasn't* a Jim Webb song. Sure sounds like one. Does anybody
know anything about the guy who wrote it???
Thanks, Jay

Tim Moore was a fair-to-middling soft-rock singer/songwriter in the 70s.
He also wrote "Rock and Roll Love Letter" for the Bay City Rollers, so
you might sense a trend in his style.
Earlier, he was in a group with one of Hall and Oates, before they made
it big.

IIRC - Didn't Tim Moore also have a single of "Second Avenue" out about the
same time as Art Garfunkel, fall 1974?

Moore's version was played on radio around 1976.

His ennunciation betrayed him as a Britisher.

Garfunkel's version is much more lush and I thought it a wonderful song when
released and have always thought it was sadly given short shrift!!!

I thought "Breakaway" another under-appreciated gem by Garfunkel.

If the credit on the disc reads "Moore" it's a tune by Tim Moore that
charted in the mid-1970s. I know little else, but I have it
somewhere, and have enjoyed listening to it.

It was Tim's that I remember hearing on the station I listened to in Boston.
The two
versions debuted on the Top 100 on the same week in Sept, 1974,with Art
rising
higher nationally.

I have Tim's album with that cut. I'll have to review it.

2nd avenue is one of my favorite songs and Tim Moore did a wonderful job
writing it and singing it. In NY we heard this song quite a bit and I would not
getting a MP3 of it (Hint, hint)

And here is an story about what happenned to Tim since then
