of the original series and all but one episode from Outer Space on DVD
from the Boomerang reruns.... Stupid me accidentally deleted it from
my DVR without making sure I had it recorded to DVD first. I think
there were 16 episodes total for each series.

To me the original will ALWAYS be the animated versions. They also
appeared in one of the 2-part New Scooby Doo Mysteries. I believe it
was about the Queen Mary showboat being supposedly haunted...

Never really knew of their existence until a generation after me (maybe
15 years back) happened to mention them. I assume, like The Banana
Splits, there were both "live" and animated TV shows. Appears Josie &
The Pussycats were later revived, maybe in the '80's.

Was Cheryl Ladd in the movie? I assume real actors, not cartoons.

If they revived the series, I never knew about it. The only HB shows I
can think of getting revived in the 80s were The Jetsons, The
Flintstones, Yogi Bear and Scooby Doo.
The 2 Josie series were Josie And The Pussy Cats(1970-1) and Josie And
The Pussy Cats in Outer Space(1972-3) The Haunted Showboat which aired
in September 1973 was the Scooby Doo cartoon I mentioned and was their
final cartoon appearance. The series continued to air in reruns on
Saturday mornings into the mid 70's before disappearing from broadcast
TV.

Do an eBay search on them and you'll find three new girls (I assume you
know both sets of girls). Since there are three real girls on this
"original" LP/CD cover, I have to assume a non animated TV series
existed. But like The Banana Splits, those actors weren't musicians.

the 3 real girls you mentioned are most likely the cast of the 2001
movie based on the 1970's animated TV series and Archie comics. The
movie starred Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid and Rosario Dawson as the
Pussy Cats. There NEVER was a live action series or anything until
that movie came along.

I just can't see Hanna Barbera (s?) putting three girls on a LP cover,
unless they were featured in a (late '60's - early '70?) TV series.
Maybe live TV series didn't last long. The Banana Splits were the same

Not to dwell on The Banana Splits, last I heard, their (live?) TV series was
planned to be released on DVD, but something held it back. Even with
them, the live TV series didn't last long; maybe one season, if that.
Followed ('60's) The Monkee's reruns on Saturday mornings. Was surprised
to find the Splits made it out to Australia - person there remembered
them, who I also purchased CD from.
Wasn't impressed with Rhino's TV tunes, but this Hollywood Records CD
wins hand down, no doubt.
Some Hanna�Barbera productions I don't even remember, like, The Beagles,
but they made it to CD!
Also looking for original Speed Racer TV theme, preferably in Stereo.

I'm not doubting myself, delusional one. I'm saying I don't claim to know
everything as you do. I'm saying I never read the comic, never watched an
episode of the cartoon, & never saw the movie & I have no desire to do so.
So I really don't know if she did/did not have a cameo in one of those
things. And I don't go around spouting conspiracy theories either. Maybe
the moon is made out of cheese, maybe the earth is flat, maybe you're not
delusional, maybe you'll get a brain for Christmas (to my knowledge, you
didn't get one this year; oh well, there's always next year --- maybe).

Bobby you are absolutely correct. I did some research and discovered
that Capitol records released an album that kind of coincided with the
animated series and featured the REAL singers of the songs used in the
animated show. Another of those singers was Brenda Holloway's(Every
Little Bit Hurts) sister Patrice who was the singing voice behind
Valerie.
The LP was reissued by Rhino(limited to 5000) probably when the movie
was in theaters but is long out of print now. There were 2 commercial
singles available and 4 mail order singles from Kellogg's.
Finally while there NEVER EVER was a live action series, there was an
LP issued with the 3 ladies who sang vocals on the Pussycat songs
released in December of 1970.

Good question. Ex: In these newsgroups, we had a discussion after I
posted a snippet and made a statement. Others laughed at my statement
because in their published book it mentions something different. But in
my CD booklet it was different. My statement was quoted by the actual
artist. To make a long story short, their book was referenced in the CD
booklet as a source of information! So, who would you believe, something
someone published on a web site or third party book or a statement from
the actual artist?

Why I also attempt to contact the actual artist, rather than believe
something I read by some writer. Like something odd I recently found on
CD; the write-up in the CD booklet made no sense, so I contacted the
artist (and record company) to obtain the song's background. However, I
never heard back from the record company. Embarrassed? Possibly.
