A good one from 1964 that is just a couple notches below on my list,
from what I posted, is "Gypsy Woman Told Me" by Eddie Powers. Me and
Diane saw him live in a small club when we were in Louisiana, great
guy.

A local hit around New Orleans and a few other places.

I like this Eddie Powers record too.

Several sources cite it reaching #3 on a local NYC radio chart (WABC I
think) . At the height of Beatlemania? An amazing achievement if true

No, don't think it was ever played in NY.

I believe Needles and Pins was not written by Jackie DeShannon, but by
Jack Nitzsche and Sonny Bono. Great list, great year!

I believe you're correct. "When You Walk In The Room" was written by
DeShannon.

I've since corrected the error on my '64 list. Thanks to all who
pointed it out!

speaking of Jackie DeShannon, I have playing the heck out of "Breakin'
it Up on the Beatles Tour". What a great album! It has her version of
Needles and Pins plus When You Walk in the Room (which she did
write!), three Buddy Holly remakes done in Beatles style!! and my
current favorite of hers, Should I Cry...plus a lot more.
