Where's "It's Alive" by Ramones ???    That's my #2 best live album of
all time

The ROIR cassette release (1986 ??) of ? Mark & The Mysterians should
be on anyone's list as well

That doesn't work.  There are a couple of bands on there, The Grateful
Dead and The Allman Brothers that did play blues at times.  There's
even an Etta James album there.  There's also  soul, James Brown and
Marvin Gaye and Otis Redding.  There's pop, The Jacksons.  New Wave,
Talking Heads.  There's even folk-ish, Simon & Garfunkel.

No, it's the sort of list that they put on things when they felt they
deserved a spot, not worrying about genre.

All of those artists are part of rock and roll, but blues is not.

Soul, funk, folk rock, even rap, etc are all part of rock and roll.

What do you mean "even" an Etta James album?

Etta James is not blues.

The fact that some rock bands have at times done blues does not make
them blues artists anymore than the fact that Streisand" did "Stoney
End" makes her a rock artist.
