Ahem...........................................Wasn't "Lightnin
Strikes" released in late 1965?
Dennis C from Tennessee
It certainly was.
I think it's between #200 and #299 for me for the year.

Another IPOD search for 1965 shows the following that I would have to make
some room for somewhere. This is why I dont do lists.
(my years may be off, and this is not an all inclusive list on my part at
all, it just reflects the songs on my ipod, which arent all that many.I
suspect if I did an all inclusive analysis, there would be more)
(So many songs, so little time)
The In Crowd - Dobie Gray
Black Night - Bobby Bland
I'm A Happy Man - Jive Five
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me - Mel Carter
The Boy From New York City - Ad Libs
Eve Of Destruction - Barry McGuire
Beau Brummels - Laugh Laugh
Little Things - Bobby Goldsboro
Run Baby Run (Back Into My Arms) - Newbeats
Just Once In My Life - Righteous Brothers
New York's A Lonely Town - Tradewinds
And finally, I have to have this one, not because it is a great song, but
because of a fond memory.
Yes, I'm Ready - Barbara Mason
(I walked into a lesbian bar (unbeknownst to me) in the middle of the
afternoon in the late 60s in San Diego. The female bartender and another
young lady were the only two in the place. They told me they were gay, and
I asked them if they ever would be with a man (since they were both hot as
hell). They put a coin in the jukebox, played Yes Im Ready, and did the
sexiest freeking dance, starting on top of the bar and ending up on either
side of me. I spent the day in this bar, and got drunk as a skunk.
Everytime I hear this song, I have a smile ear to ear)
> Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me - Mel Carter
Never liked this vastly over produced pop version that failed to make
the soul chart at all, despite being a huge pop chart hit.
I'll take it by Sonny Til & the Orioles.
Me too. The Orioles own this.
The Carter is the one I grew up with, and its the first one, so any others
need to beat it, and the Orioles certainly do that.
I know what you mean, Mel's has that production sound, but I dont even hear
it any more. I just like the song alot. Its a great song for doo wop
groups to sing.
I have one by The Arrogants, acapella, from sometime in the 50s that is
pretty cool.
The lists are done based TOTALLY on our own personal taste and nothing
else. They have nothing to do with any kind of historical
perspective.

significant records of 1965, check out this list:
