Issued under the EMI USA label in 1992. Various artists '50's - '70's. I
have Volume #2, but would like to know what other Volumes exist. EMI did
a fantastic job at remastering Volume #2 (lots of Stereo), that I'm sure
other Volumes are similar.

Thanks!

I believe Vol. 1 was the only other one. They were issued to promote EMI's
Legendary Masters series of CDs.

Thanks, Randy! I contacted (e-mailed) EMI, but they said they weren't
the issuing label. Too many EMI's! :-)

I'll have to assume it's out of print.

Thanks.

This is an exceptional set, one of the first where I heard things not on
prior releases (i.e., Hippy Hippy Shake's intro with a count in..."One, two,
three FOR GOODNESS SAKE..."0, frickin fantastic.

There is only a reference in the book about volume 1 ( wonder what was on
that one). One of the logo's calls it a rock n roll series ultra-set. So
perhaps Volume 1 and 2 would have ben like a 2 disc cd today?

Oh, man, I gotta have that!!!!!!!! Always like studio chatter or edited
out lead-ins! Oh, wait, I have this CD! :-)

Hey, yeah, that is a cool 1 2 3 intro!

Not sure!!!!!

I'd LOVE to know what songs appear on Volume 2!!!!

Most all the songs blew my mind, on Volume 1, but one stood out among
the rest and that is The Jive Five "I'm A Happy Man". At first, I
thought it was a remake, since it was in stereo and nice and clear. I
HAVE NEVER seen that song appear on ANY oldies CD!

EMI earns a Gold Star for this series!

Thanks, KC!

I collect many vintage (oldies) CD's, but the ONLY other one that
matches this EMI one, is this one, I mentioned before.....

The Lineup:

1.) Downtown - Petula Clark
2.) Needles & Pins - The Searchers
3.) Love Potion Number Nine - The Searchers
4.) Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations
5.) Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes) - Edison Lighthouse
6.) Smile A Little Smile For Me - The Flying Machine *
7.) A Summer Song - Chad & Jeremy
8.) Pictures Of Matchstick Men - Status Quo
9.) It's A Heartache - Bonnie Tyler
10) Rock And Roll Part 2 - Gary Glitter

© 1994 Laser Light - Catalog # 12 317 - The British Invasion
"ALL RECORDINGS ARE FROM THE ORIGINAL MASTERS"

* With extended intro and ending

Not sure this CD is still in print. And while it's nothing to write home
about, it does contains some semi rare stereo recordings on ALL tracks.
Sound quality is nice.

Oh yeah, I have this one as well. I hadn't noticed anything radically
different stereo-wise, but then I wasn't looking. Isn't this the cd where
on Love Grows instead of the normal lead break they have the voices going:
"ba-ba ba ba ba ba ba" basically scatting the single's horn solo?

I'll have to check my archive of CDs and get back to you, KC!!!

While - Build Me Up Buttercup PROBABLY can be found in stereo on other
CDs, on all my (500?) CDs, it appears in monophonic. Yuck! :-)

If you listen carefully, you can hear someone chuckle during the intro
of that song.
