Does anyone have the original single? If so, what's the running time?
I'm asking because I've reason to believe that the single was shorter
than what later turned up on the "Atlantic R&B" box and Rhino's "Best
of Joe Tex" CD.

According to Whitburn Pop Annual, it's 2:09.

I love Joe Tex, very underated. Give a listen to Carly Simon's version
of this song off her Coming Around Again album. Surprisingly good.

Gross compilations. Try imports, one heck of a lot more bang per buck!!!

I have the 45 "You're Right, Ray Charles" - it came out in 1970, my
station played it a few times, surprised it didn't even crack the top
100. I liked it better than stuff like "I Gotcha", or "You Said A Bad
Word"

Yeah, right. Like I'm going to take advice from this guy on which CDs
to buy!

I'm sorry, I forgot, you play them on that 10 watt AM or FM radio
station that has a coat hanger antenna. Should be fine for that!!!!!

I just wanted to throw in that this is a wonderful song that is never
played on most oldies stations and infrequently on the ones that do
play it. i'd call it one of the best oldies that gets negligible
airplay.

He stole that line from "Gabbin' Blues" by Big Maybelle from 1952.
