I have no idea what The Monkees are doing on my Josie & The Pussycats
CD, but welcome, since it's some early Take or maybe a demo. Anyone
heard this version before? Maybe The Monkees made a guest appearance on
the Josie & The Pussycats TV show. This 1998 CD has 33 Tracks, probably
similar to the later Rhino CD, possibly licensed from the people who
made this CD.
As for Josie & The Pussycats, not bad, could have used some better
writers. Back in the early '70's, looks like you could purchase their
45s for $.35 each.

Nothing like Rhino's - you have a pirate recording.

Is that the CD from Rubber Boots, Inc catalog # RBGG 020-457 or a
different one? The RBI CD contained 33 tracks including Valleri I
believe and has a green label. The cover for the CD is identical to
the Capitol Records LP BUT has additional writing on it which calls it
'The Ultimate Collection'

Yeah! I see it contains more than the Rhino CD, even different takes of
the issued singles! I see Rhino's is a 2001 edition!! I'm happy!

Ah, I see Bobby Hart was one producer/song writer, maybe he contributed
this version of Valeri!!! Also, who is Jack Wild? Not a bad song!! No
wonder why this CD goes for big bucks!

what you keep forgetting is that Rhino is owned by Time Warner who in
turn now owns the Hannah Barbera library and therefore owns the
masters of any material related to Josie from the cartoon run

They saw this CD I have (as others I've seen them scarfed up), offered
big bucks for the material and reissue it it abbreviated form. Fun to
see Rhino AKA Warner also trying to steal the Tunes For Tots CD market!
Look at what grotesque mistake they made purchasing Atlantic Records. No
wonder why they try their hand at other markets!

You should let your ears be the guide to what material is possessed by
who. An age old library material, or just publishes the remnants of it?
Even Rhino can't publish some J&TP material, because they can't find or
have no rights to publish it.

It's "Valleri."

And you wonder why people question your credibility?!

No such spelling and half the Internet disagrees with you.

Dean, it's incorrectly spelled on that pirate CD (does anyone besides SFB
think "Rubber Boots" is a legitimate record company?) so they would have a
reason for adding it to that collection of illegal recordings. Valerie was
one of the characters in cartoon band, Josie & the Pussycats. Valleri, as
you noted, is the correct title of the Monkee's song.

Yeah, Dean!!! So, what they gonna do, misspell it just because some
whacko at a record company did? Huh? Huh?!!!

Thanks for the clarification, but I stopped giving a fuck about Josie
& The Pussycats when I was perhaps 12. That Uni still takes them
seriously at his age speaks volumes about the man, and not in a good
way.

Oh, I see. Maybe I should yell, "Mommy, Mommy, look at the mistakes I
found in Dave Marsh's book, do I get a cookie!!!??" for a sign of maturity!

Uni :-)
