Buddy Bailey is the lead singer on all three tracks.Produced by Ahmet

Bill Haley & His Comets commence a series of sessions for Decca at the
Pythian Temple in New York City. Fourteen tracks are laid down most of
which end up on the LP "Rockin' Around The World" (Decca
DL 8692, March 17, 1958). The single "Mary Mary Lou"/" It's A Sin"
(Decca 30530, release date December 23) is waxed also.Personnel : Bill
Haley (vocals / rhythm guitar) ; Franny Beecher (lead guitar) ; Joe
Oliver Rusty Keefer (guitars) ; Billy Williamson (steel guitar) ; Rudy

Marie Adams and Johnny Otis join forces on "Bye Bye Baby" (Capitol
3852, December, b/w "Good Golly", from the August 19
session. Marie also records "All I Want Is Your Love", which is
overdubbed with the same audience tape that was used for "Ma! He's
Making Eyes At Me" on January 8, 1958. In the US this track will find
a place on the Various Artists album "Everybody Rocks!" (Capitol T
1025), in Europe it will be coupled with "The Light Still Shines In My
Window" from a future session for a single release in February 1958
(Capitol CL 14837, UK and Capitol HF 196, Holland). "Shuggie's Song"
from this session remains in the vaults.Personnel : Jimmy Nolen

on Sun 315 in February 1959. "Walkin' Shoes", "That's All" and
"Bonaparte's Retreat" stay in the can until the release of Bear
Family BFX 15211 (Sun Records : The Country Years 1950-1959, 10-LP

A productive session for Hank Ballard & The Midnighters at the King
studio in Cincinnati. Of the eight songs recorded on this day,the most
famous is his recording of "The Twist" that is usually presented as
the original tho the real actual original was already languishing in
the vaults at Vee Jay and would do so for decades to come) but at the
time it was only thought of as a B-side, with "Teardrops On Your
Letter" as the top side (King 5171). Other tracks that became singles
are "Kansas City" (King 5195) and "Cute Little Ways"/"House With No
Windows" (King 5245). The remaining songs, "I'll Pray For You",
"Every-body Does Wrong Some Times" and "So Good To Be Home"
end up on the LP "The One And Only Hank Ballard And His Midnighters"
(King LP 674) in 1960.Backing by : Cal Green (guitar) ; Navarro
Hastings (electric bass) ; Edwyn Conley (bass) ; Sonny Thompson

James Brown records "I'll Go Crazy" in Cincinnatti

Conway Twitty continues with a four day session with Al Bruno (guitar)
Jack Nance (drums) and members of the Nashville A-team at Bradley
Studio in Nashville, produced by Jim Vienneau.This day sees "Lonely
Blue Boy" (the next single, MGM 12857) recorded plus "Can't We Go
Steady" and "Sorry" which appear on the LP "Lonely Blue Boy" (MGM SE
3818) in 1960.

Gene Pitney cuts the single "Please Come Back Baby", which will become
the first release under his own name (Festival 25002, February 1960).
The reverse is "I'll Find You", recorded on October 27.The record will
be reissued in October 1961.Produced by Herb Abramson.

Freddie Hart does an afternoon session at Bradley Studio in Nashville.
"The Key's In The Mailbox"/"Starvation Days" is the resulting single
(Columbia 41597), released in February 1960. A third track, "My Last
Dime", is saved from oblivion by Bear Family in 2004 (included on the
CD "Juke Joint Boogie", BCD 16727).Personnel : Freddie Hart (vocals /
guitar) ; Grady Martin, Harold Bradley (guitars) ; Jimmy Day (steel
guitar) ; Joe Zinkan (bass) ; Floyd Cramer (piano) ; Tommy Jackson

Don French sings "Little Blonde Girl" and "I Look Into My Heart" on
"American Bandstand"

The Everly Brothers are back in the RCA Victor studio in Nashville to
record four tracks. "Ebony Eyes" is released as a single (Warner Bros
5199) on January 13, 1961,"Temptation" as Warner Bros 5220 on May
12, 1961. "Lonely Island" is first issued on the LP "Gone, Gone, Gone"
(WB 1585) in January 1965 and "Why Not" finally escapes the vault on
the UK compilation "The New Album" in 1977. Producer : Wesley Rose.

Little Willie John is the headliner at the Regal Theater in Chicago
this night

Santo & Johnny ("Bullseye") guest on "American Bandstand"

Elvis scores yet another #1 this time on the UK chart when "His Latest
Flame" dethrones Helen Shapiro and "Walkin' Back To Happiness" from
the top spot

In Washington, D.C.,Marvin Rainwater records his second Warwick
single, "Tough Top Cat"/"(There's A) Honky Tonk In Your Heart" (674),
possibly with Link Wray and the Raymen. Rleased in January 1962.
