"Mambo Baby" becomes Ruth Brown's fifth record to reach the R&B #1
spit when it knocks Faye Adams' "Hurts Me To My Heart" from top spot

In Chicago,Bo Diddley records "Diddy Wah Diddy"/"I'm Looking For A
Woman" chosen as a forthcoming single on Checker in 1956 plus "Dancing
Girl" which finally sees release on his LP "Have Guitar Will Travel"
in 1960

NOVEMBER 10 1956

After a three year absence Billie Holiday returns to the New York City
stage----at Carnegie Hall this day.The concert is hailed a high point
in jazz history

Elsewhere this day Billboard publishes its annual DJ music poll. In
the year that rock 'n' roll truly conquers the world America's main
stream deejays show that they really have their finger on the pulse of

In theatres the movie "Giant" with James Dean and Elizabeth Taylor is

On "The Ed Sullivan Show" this night Sarah Vaughan sings "Lucky In
Love" whilst Billy Eckstine performs "If I Can Help Somebody" before
the two come together for the fine duet "Passing Strangers" . Roger
Williams is also on the show and plays "Till"

NOVEMBER 10 1958

Conway Twitty's "It's Only Make Believe" reaches the #1 spot replacing
MGM label mate Tommy Edwards and "It's All In The Game" at the top

Elsewhere a touring Sam Cooke (along with Lou Rawls) is seriously
injured in a car accident in Marion,Arkansas.The other driver is
killed in the smash.

The Four Aces (with "The World Outside") guest on "American Bandstand"

NOVEMBER 10 1959

Ricky Nelson records songs for his Imperial gospel EP "Ricky Sings
Spirituals" this day----"Glory Train" and "I Bowed My Head In Shame".
are waxed whilst the other two songs, "March With the Band of the
Lord" and "If You Believe It" are completed in December

Four days of session work commence for Conway Twitty at Bradley Studio
in Nashville that produce a host of LP tracks including "My Adobe
Hacienda*,"A Huggin' and a Kissin' *,"Star-Spangled Heaven" and others


Fats Domino performs "Be My Guest" on "American Bandstand"

NOVEMBER 10 1960

Jack Scott is at Bell Sound Studio in New York City to record "Is
There Something On Your Mind" and "Found A Woman" for his next Top
Rank single.As usual, the Chantones provide vocal support

Adam Wade performs "In Pursuit Of Happiness" on "American Bandstand"
and the show pays a special musical tribute to the city of Detroit

NOVEMBER 10 1962

On the UK charts Frank Ifield follows up "I Remember You" with a
revival of Hank Williams' "Lovesick Blues" that hits the top spot this
day unseating the Tornados and "Telstar" from the British #1 slot

NOVEMBER 10 1963

Appearing at The Crawdaddy Club,Richmond,Surrey,England this
night---The Yardbirds with Eric Clapton on guitar

NOVEMBER 10 1969

Twenty years after the record is first issued Gene Autry is this day
presented with a Gold Record for the biggest hit of his long
career----"Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer",the huge seasonal hit
