Is there a menu big enough to choose from to actually come up with a
list of '"Thanksgiving" songs primarily from the fifties?  Figure this
group could come up with a good dozen or so songs like "Turkey Hop"
from the Robins or Mashed Potato Time by Dee Dee Sharp........just a
subject that came up with some friends.......

As far as specific Thanksgiving songs go there's the instrumental
"Thanksgiving Day Parade" by Spencer Ross on the flip of the hit
"Tracy's Theme" by him from 1959.

Otherwise....................

How about "There's No Place Like Home for the Holidays"?
The lyrics are not specific as to which holiday but they do mention
pumpkin pie which I identify more closely with Thanksgiving than
Christmas.

The record was certainly aimed at the Christmas market since it was
released AFTER Thanksgiving Day in 1954 and achieved nearly all its
sales (making #8 on the Billboard chart) over that Christmas season.

I always go with "I Thank You" by Sam & Dave even though it has nothing to
do with the holiday.  Or with the 50s, but you said "primarily."  It's just
a great record.

How about "You Eat Too Much" by Harold Burrage?  :)

Pocahontas is from the wrong part of American history.  She's
Virginia, not Plymouth.  Are there no songs called "Squanto"?

Or maybe something by the PILGRIM Travelers.

In American-speak (or at least my personal experience of it), "the
Holidays" refers to the Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Years period
(a.k.a. "the Holiday Season").

"Calendar Girl" by Neil Sedaka alludes to Thanksgiving.

"Over the River and Through the Woods" was originally about
Thanksgiving Day, but the only versions I'm familiar with (Danny Kaye
& The Andrews Sisters, The Chipmunks) have changed the holiday to
Christmas.
