About a decade ago, I bought a CD called "The Hawks Rock," featuring
17 tracks by the R&B group who recorded for Imperial from 1953-55. I
played the disc a couple of times and really enjoyed it, but then
filed it away and forgot about it until just today.
The Hawks were nothing spectacular, but their music was very well-
written and performed IMHO. If you're an R&B fan and are unfamiliar
with the Hawks, check 'em out! You may just like what you hear. (Of
course, if your name is Pendragon or Sharx, you needn't bother.)

Thanks again Dean....I would definitely say this is the best sound
quality Hawks comp CD when compared to the 1953-1954 Hawks/Bees

If I upload a track somewhere, may I hope for a cor-
rect diagnosis from the experts here?

Anton - My diagnosis remains correct in my mind simply based upon the
fact that you essentially have no choices when it comes to the Hawks
on CD....The Hawks Rock CD is simply the better of the two, not to say
that the remastering is top-notch, etc...but if you want the Hawks
music on CD - the pickings are slim....

You could get the optimum sound available by investing $1000 or so to

I was thinking about such a naive and futile a thing
as e-mailing Ace, who own the Imperial catalog, or
Bear Family, who reissued The Spiders, with a re-
quest to give The Hawks the proper treatment...
