Of all time..........for me, that would have to be John Denver. His
songs and performance of them have been one of the most important
influences in my life. No other artist has ever come close to effecting
my so. And in addition to his music, his activities as an
environmentalist and humanitarian have given me and so many others a
guide to follow. I had the priviledge of meeting him on a number of
occasions and he was as wonderful an individual as his songs are
beautiful.

FRANKIE LAINE! I've got about 250 of his songs on CD -- so far -- and
love 'em all. I loved "That Lucky Old Sun" and "I Believe" from as
far back as I can remember (they were favorites of my mother's), got
some old 78s of his when I was 10, and he's been my favorite ever
since. Between the new stuff he recorded as late as last year, and
the "new" stuff that CDs are making available to me for the first
time, I'm discovering more and more favorite songs by him every day.

This kind of thing kind of goes in cycles. You happen to have arrived
during a particularly mean spirited one. I'm glad that you realize
that the newsgroup culture attracts social misfits of all kinds and
it's just part of the game. This group, in general, is one of the
most well rounded and intelligent that I've been a part of. It's
worth hanging around for the information and interesting discussions
about damned near any topic you can think of. Don't worry about the
anal retentive types, most of us are pretty easy going.
