That's just it---I don't know :-)
She passed away this day (Feb 7) in 1972 but I don't know where she
died nor where she is interred. Anyone out there know? Or is the
detail of her passing a mystery lost in the Sanders of time?
On the subject of the record about this is one TERRIFIC pop record,one
of my favorite ever movie themes and yes,Ms Sanders all too brief
vocal part MAKES the record!!

For many,many years I knerw this song only by Johnnie Ray (who had a
British #1 with it in 1954). I was'nt even aware that there was an
original (and a better) version until way into the 60's when I filled
in all the (many) gaps I had in my Drifters 45's collection!
I do agree tho that the 1960 Elvis version is the second best reading
of the song.

The reason for the delay in replying - I boobed on this one since I
had Frankie Laine as the original but apparently the song goes back
much further to 1931 and was done at that time by one Nick Lucas "The
Crooning Troubador" which may or may not be the original version.
