DECEMBER 25 1948

Spike Jones' immortal seasonal comedy hit "All I Want For Christmas
(Is My Two Front Teeth)" moves into the #1 spot on the Billboard chart
this day taking over from Dinah Shore and "Buttons And Bows"

DECEMBER 25 1950

The hero of the comics Dick Tracy marries this day.His bride? Tess

Elsewhere NBC-TV gets Walt Disney to lend his creative genius to a

Across the Atlantic The Mike Pedicin Quartet guest on "American
Bandstand"

DECEMBER 25 1958

On this day in 1958, Alan Freed's Christmas Rock & Roll Spectacular
opens a ten-day run at the Loew's State Theater in Manhattan with
seventeen acts, including Chuck Berry,Jackie Wilson,Jimmy Clanton,The
Cadillacs,Eddie Cochran,Harvey & The Moonglows,Frankie Avalon,The
Crests,Dion & The Belmonts,the Royal Teens,Baby Washington,The Nu
Tornados----and Freed's wife Inga who the deejay is currently engaged
in trying to make into a star.The most curious aspect of the show is
Freed's incongrous choice of Johnnie Ray as headliner for the first
five days (The Everly Brothers are signed to star for the last five
days). Ray reportedly does his best but is completely out of place on
such a show and is roundly booed by a teenage audience that has come
to see rock & roll
