Looks like he's making good use of his long fingernails.

My gripe with camera people is that on closeups, they focus almost
exclusively on the picking / strumming hand rather than the hand
that's working the fretboard.

Jimmy, did he purposely glom part of "The Walk" by Jimmy mMcCracklin,
or is that similarity just a musical coincidence?

Can you name any of these earlier blues guitar instrumentals that he
took from ?

It's all a purposeful glom of other songs. It is "The Walk" in that
section. The head is from an instrumental by Hound Dog Taylor. The
stop time section comes from a Robert Junior Lockwood piece.
Of course, he does "Peter Gunn" before reprising the head at the end.
