Looks like he's making good use of his long fingernails.

My gripe with camera people is that on closeups, they focus almost
exclusively on the picking / strumming hand rather than the hand
that's working the fretboard.

"Hideaway" is a masterpiece of snippets taken from other blues guitar
instrumentals and assembled like a collage. Titled after a bar by the
same name. That's Hoss Allen introducing him and Gatemouth Brown on
the guitar, leading the band.

Jimmy, did he purposely glom part of "The Walk" by Jimmy mMcCracklin,
or is that similarity just a musical coincidence?

Can you name any of these earlier blues guitar instrumentals that he
took from ?

It's all a purposeful glom of other songs. It is "The Walk" in that
section. The head is from an instrumental by Hound Dog Taylor. The
stop time section comes from a Robert Junior Lockwood piece.
Of course, he does "Peter Gunn" before reprising the head at the end.
