Was Luther Dixon of Scepter Records ever a part of the great Savoy R&B
group, the Four Buddies? I'm asking because I read that he was, but
the source of that claim has questionable credibility. I also found no
mention of Dixon as part of the Four Buddies in Mitch Rosalsky's
"Encyclopedia of Rhythm & Blues and Doo-Wop Vocal Groups."

I think the problem comes in exactly when Dixon joined up with Harrison &
what they were calling themselves at the time. Marv says they first
recorded together as The Barons but that doesn't mean they couldn't have
been performing as the Four Buddies between the time the original group
broke up & the new one first recorded. There are several sites & obituaries
that say he was a member toward the tail end of the group's existence, but
they could all be wrong.
