"Show Boat" a musical by Oscar Hammerstein II and Jerome Kern and
adapted from Edna Ferber's 1926 novel of the same name first opens at
the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City. Starring Helen Morgan the show
introduces several classic songs---none more so than "Ol' Man River"
DECEMBER 27 1932
The largest movie theatre in the world, Radio City Music Hall in New
York City, opens on this date. With 5,945 seats it is the largest
indoor theatre in the world.
