Yeah, BT & Doughty do Never Gonna Come Back Down, my favorite song of
the summer. I got the album free, I like parts of it but it was worth it for
NGCBD.

I`d already heard the whole album. It`s got its moments, Ashcroft`s a
great singer but the songs themselves aren`t there like on Urban Hymns. It`s
almost worth it for his voice, but nothing touches anything on Urban Hymns.

Hourglass. A fine choice. One of my desert island discs. The second
album is nearly as wonderful. She evidently has a third in the
pipeline. I have tickets to see her in September.

What brought these to the Hank hi-fi? New additions to your collection?
> 6 degrees from the Jayhawks to REM anyone??
Here goes - George Drakoulias produced the Jayhawks and also the
Black Crowes. Brendan O'Brian was the engineer on the Black
Crowes' 'Southern Harmony and Musical Companion'. O'Brian also
mixed records for Brad who are a Pearl Jam spin-off project.
Pearl Jam shared a fan club single with REM.

She was playing at the Arches in Glasgow the night after I saw the
Jayhawks there. I was tempted, but I couldn't face driving back up
there on the Wednesday.

Hell no. I've had them both for years. I'm trading them (for some
Beach Boys 'Smile' sessions.) and I transferred them onto CDR.
Thought I'd listen to them at the same time!
I've got about another 15 shows from 1985 - and my first ever
bootleg from Helsinki - though which I haven't had time to listen to
yet, let alone add to the webpage.

Bravo! I couldn't have even started with this one.
I'm just playing Reckoning as I type (to listen to the Mike bits
following Ron's posting about it). What an *excellent* album it is to
be sure. I don't think Michael's vocals were ever recorded better
than here.
If you have any comments about the accuracy of my transcription, I'd be
interested. The version I posted was revised during a bout of intense
listening several years ago following some questions about it on rmr -- but
I'm open to suggestions for refining what I have.

afaik, they have never played in helsinki. :-(
the only r.e.m. show in finland was in 1989 in Provinssirock, which is a
rock festival located in Seinäjoki (a town 360 km from helsinki).
back then i hadn't even heard about r.e.m. and didn't go there. but this is
probably more information that you wanted to know.
best wishes

I stand absolutely corrected raya :-) I've looked at the CD and, yep,

Me too, but the rest of the album is fairly decent. Just some mindless rock,
it's all good.
y'know, it was a bit of a letdown after the Let's Get Serious EP. Just my two
cents.
