Sharon Sylvester was born and raised in London, England. At the age of seven
she made her first public appearance at Clapton Square in London where she
participated at various talent competitions and events and received numerous
awards and top prizes.
During her early teenage years, she toured with her group Black Shades and
traveled throughout England. Sharon performed solos and played the drums for
the group. Her musical skills and vocals were developed by being committed
to various workshops such as: Triangle Musical Workshop, the Basement and
Covent Gardens. The group Black Shades developed a good following, but
decided to split up.
Sharon's passion for singing and writing continued to increase. In 1984, she
was in need of a change and migrated to the United States of America. She
performed at various nightclubs in New Jersey and New York and collaborated
with different artists as well as pursuing her solo career. In 1988, Sharon
met reggae artist Rula Brown and featured her new single entitled "Don't
Wanna Lose You" on his album.
In 1989, Sharon opened for the "Wailers" at the Count Basie Theatre in Red
Bank, New Jersey. Later that year, after being injured in a car accident,
which almost claimed her life, Sharon surrendered to Jesus Christ and her
singing was no longer entertainment but became ministry. She realized then
that her purpose for singing is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to a
dying world. She is currently active in street ministry as well as going
into the nursing homes and prisons to share the gospel of Jesus Christ in
whatever capacity she is needed.
In 1996, Sharon participated in a music workshop and concert with Donnie
McClurkin. In her most recent recording, "It's In Jesus", Sharon exhibits
her talent in writing, arranging and producing. Sharon has shown versatility
in her singing which covers different styles in gospel music. Her ministry
continues to excel as she captures the attention of various cultures of
people everywhere.
