We don't get very many major entertainers performing in OKC, but we do have
an extremely talented local conga drummer who spends a lot of his spare time
making the arts available to inner city kids. Now that funding for public
education has been slashed (5000 positions are being vacated in
OKC--including music, art & PE teachers), it is even more crucial that other
organizations take up the slack in making art classes available to kids and
offering scholarships to those who would otherwise not have the opportunity
to participate.

There will be an African Art Sale and Reggae/Soca party this Saturday, May
31 at the old Ritz Theatre on Britton Road near Western. There will be
authentic West African Art Objects from Cmeroon, Senegal, Gambia, Burkina
Faso, Liberia et al., and an artist named Yuself will be presenting some of
his original work. The art sale portion of the evening is scheduled for 6-8
pm.

There will be authentic Caribbean food by our very own "trinigirl,"
Jasmin--this alone is worth your time and money even if you are not
interested in art.

From 8 pm till the crowd stops dancing, there will be a DJ spinning reggae
and soca.

We are hoping we can all have a good time and raise some money for a worthy
cause. If you are in the area, come by and join us! If you know someone in
the area, please help us spread the word.
