We're into a new month, so I've posted The Artist Shop's Top 50 for
the month of May <http://www.artist-shop.com/top100>.
As the end of the month was approaching Gongzilla and Caravan had a
very tight battle for the number one slot, but at the last moment,
Gongzilla took the lead with the very deserving East Village Sessions.
Not only did it take 1st place for the month of May, but it shot all
the way up to third place for the year!
Steve Hackett's To Watch the Storms took first place in April, but
orders continued to be strong enough to keep it in 3rd place for May.
New releases from David Sylvian and Geoff Downes rounded out the top
5. Here's the whole list.
The list is based on orders received, including pre-orders, so there
are some titles on the list that have not been released yet.

Hi, Henry:
That's the brand new Caravan album that will be released later this
summer. We're taking pre-orders on it now. The Artist Shop charts
are based on orders we receive. So just as the number one selling
book at Amazon.com, the next Harry Potter book, has not been released
yet, The Artist Shop charts also includes some titles not yet
released. On the website, those are highlighted in red.
Here's the info on the Caravan release which is also at
<http://www.artist-shop.com/newlabel/index4.htm>:
"Special pre-release edition of the new Caravan studio album "The
Unauthorised Breakfast Item"-the new Caravan studio album to coincide
with their 35 years in the business. The official release is September
but this edition will be available in July.
"This will consist of the album plus a bonus CD containing the
orchestrated version of For Richard with the orchestra in Quebec
summer 2002, plus live versions of several of the new tracks. All
copies will be signed by the band and the artwork will be different to
the standard release in September 2003.
"All copies will be numbered and only 2500 will be pressed so it will
be a case of first come etc. This edition will be a web and concert
edition only."
>Congrats to Gongzilla! Anyone in the NYC, Boston and Philly area should
>check out their upcoming gigs. They're only playing five gigs, so check
>them out while the opportunity is here! Check out lolorecords.com for

Yes, I was quite pleased that they took the #1 spot for our May
charts. It was kind of exciting towards the end of the month watching
Caravan and Gongzilla going back and forth vying for that spot. It
wasn't until the last day of the month that Gongzilla secured it.
As for Gongzilla gigs, as good as the new album is, I'd certainly
recommend anyone to go to their shows. Here are the dates.
