If he was claiming to be better than B.J. Wilson, you can bet he
was pulling your leg. (Although the drummer who actually played
on AWSOP was session man Bill Eyden.) Procol did have a mystery
drummer in ther formative period remembered only as "Tubs
Drubs"--no one seems to recall his real name. Tubs was ditched
in favor of Bobby Harrison, who, besides not being allowed to play
on the single, was himself sacked not long afterwards, at which
point B.J. Wilson--who had been the band's first choice all along--
was brought back in.

(I've corrected the speling of "Procol" in the header.)

I remember a Tony Arthurs telling everyone he was Procol Harum's drummer? He
was a little guy with an M&S blue pinstripe suit and a perm.

I must say responding to a 10+ year old Usenet message is an
impressive achievement.

<g> Well that Google archive makes it easy!
Someone else knew a Tony drummer, but the fellow in the pic was mouthing off
in the mid-80s before the days of Google. There was a great rock 'n roll
dictionary in the library that featured Harum with no mention of a Tony,
though, bu that ay have been a 90s tome.

It's possible he was this mysterious Tubs Drub, I suppose.

Thanks.

The webmaster on Procol Harum's site was impressed enough to ask how he can
contact the boastful Tony! :-D

Sounds like you boss did a lot of acid in the 1960s. And the 1980s.
