Very Cool I have been slowly tracking down copies of the Festies. I
have some Ball and All of IT, Lemonwheel and 8. Looking forward to
hearing your thoughts.

I think this Gin is fantastic. The jam toward the end never fails to
give me that rush to the head followed by a few tears. I think I'm
going to listen to it now...thanks :).

Don't get me wrong, it's a great place for this song and really helped
get the music to 'take off', and quite early in the set. That being
said, I've been listening to *a lot* of phish and it wasn't a peaker
(and rightfully shouldn't be). Just not the best I've *ever*heard.

melt - ponderous for quite awhile.......then finishes blistering (read
goosebumps) ... sound like my copy has quite a bit of wind (?)
sparkle - standard
free - wall of sound
coil - nice piano.....wishes there weren't as many wooos and whistling
from the crowd during quiet spots.
waste - acoustic, just nice. (love acoustic songs)
Train Song - I love this song. Refects a good paced life. This is
also why I like Let Me Lie.
Strange Design - This song is growing on me.
Hello My Baby
Mikes - yes. Start jam right out of the gate with venemous
intention. trey's fingers at the end....Trey teases Simple but the
band doesn't follow. song is brought down to a lower jam.
rootdown...Does this band know how to layer sound or what?!?! Simple
- This time around to Simple works well...with a funky page interlude
between the two....
Contact - Gotta love it...especially after a long drive to get to the
show. really playing bring this middle part down to near silence....
Weekapaug - very nice...striving....trey's fingers are quick as hell
and his tonal choices are supurb.

DWD - :) nice infinite feeling
NICU - fun
Life on Mars - Always a great cover. I've been lucky to have caught 2
of these in person.
Hood - niiiiiiice
Amazing - Nice way to end the night

amazing grace was a kick in the ass encore......nothing worse than
ending out the first nite at the first fest with a snoozer song.....I
remember feeling the same way walking out after the new years show
that same year!!

I can see that...especially if you're planning on raging all night. I
felt the same way about the 7/12/00 velvet sea.

I hated that encore at Deer Creek when it happened. Now, I LOVE it.
Perfect end to a great week of music.

I tried for my own clifford ball listening, or at least set 1 nite
1....

my notes go as follows.....gas mask on, opening notes to
chalkdust.....we are putting an IV in your arm now.....okay you can go
into the recovery room now....ah, man, I gotta sober up with my mother
looking at me....I havent had to do this in 20 years....

the tune up for chalkdust was great, unfortunately the IV took over
before I heard much more.....
