Hey pholks,

I was wondering if anyone has listened to this album:

Down From The Mountain: Live Concert Performance By The Artists & Musicians
Of O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Recorded live at Ryman Auditorium, Nashville, Tennessee on May 24, 2000.

This tour is coming to Toronto in Feb. and tickets go on sale tomorrow - the
Del McCoury Band is coming with the tour (Beauty of My Dreams and many Phish
sit-ins).

Anyone got any insight on this??

Thanks,
Brian

I dunno about that but I heard the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack and
I'd say its worth the money.

Go if you're into super old school folk, dixie style.

this is just my opinion but if you've ever actually heard 'bluegrass' then
you may realize that phish's attempts at it or pretty bad. I dont think sit
ins on this tour would do any justice to the true music. It would sell out
just so people could see trey or mike standing up there among master
bluegrass musicians, it's a matter of respect. Del mccoury band is the shit,
love em. Phish tried doing some bluegrass but it never really seemed to take
off to well. I even heard in a interview that trey said it was a disaster
trying to do it. If you want to hear phish doing what bluegrass they did
learn, listen to the recording at http://www.solorb.com/dat-heads/ its from
11-11-94 and it's with phish and rev. mosier from blueground undergrass,
he's the guy they asked to come on tour with them to teach em bluegrass.
This recording is what you need to hear :)

<travolta voice circa welcome back kotter> This is so weird.
</travolta voice> I went and saw Allison Krauss and Union Station last
night with special guest Jerry Douglas. That was some of the most
amazing music I have ever heard. They played "Man of Constant
Sorrows" (Dan Tyminski - the guitarist and vocalist for Union Station
- is Clooney's singing voice in the movie.) and "Down to the River to
Pray" (the song from the baptism/lotus eaters scene). I had always
meant to buy the sountrack, and last night I did. They also had the
Down from the Mountain soundtrack, which I will pick up at a later
date.

BTW, Down from the Mountain was directed by cinema verite great D. A.
Pennebaker. He is the director that shot Dylan's superb doc Don't
Look Back.

If you are into "roots music" at all, buy either one of these albums,
go see Allison Krauss and check out the Down from the Mountain
movie/tour.

OPC: 7/1/99 - last half of set I with Jerry Douglas on dobro, If I
Could with Allison Krauss on vocals.

My sister married a bono-fide Appalaichian good ole boy, and when she
watched the movie with his family, HIS MOTHER KNEW THE WORDS TO EVERY SONG!
The soundtrack is a family favorite, and if that band comes to Dayton, Ohio,
I know a whole passel o' folks who'll come from down the holler to hear 'em!
