Man this show is killer. I grabbed to cleanse my Pallate as I wade
through the 09 shows and it is VERY, VERY good. I was pointed to it
for the Harry Hood which I am told is the best ever and I must say it
is the best I have heard.

I thought of you DEG as there as the Halley's on here is spectacular.
Definitely a different feel and sound from 09.

The previous night (12-30-93) is another MUST listen - the shows are a
pair to me. Both equally stunning.

Me as well... :) That first set has such a feeling of excitement,
urgency. Love it! Chill'n to 'It's Ice'....

That Ice was devine. Great Possum, awesome vocal jam in YEM. Really
liked what they did with DWD out of Auld Lang Syne into SOAM. Great
Lizards, great Sparkle . . . and a GREAT Suzy . . . HYHU is amusing me
at the moment, and here comes Fishman about to spell Neil Diamond - I
love these guys!

This is the word, this is the first word of the next song . . . hold
on hold on, this is still . . . . . . . . . can everybody say that
word? This word turns into another word, a little way through, and
that other letter, is, under this one . . .

You got the way to make me happy!

At 1:35 into Hood, the boys tease the theme from THE ODD COUPLE! Just
one line of it, but absolutely it's definitely the theme from The Odd
Couple. Somebody please check that and confirm or deny!!

DWD out of Auld Lang Syne

apparently that DWD jam was before the song was even unveiled

Are you familiar with the theme song? If you're interested, check
this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDrfHj3j398 and then 1:35 into
Hood . . . I got goosebumps . . . ;)

Looking over the setlists at phish.net it looks like the whole New
Years run is worthy, 12/28-12/31.

There's a review of 12/29 by Adam Schneider . . . doesn't he post
here??

Well I have 12/30 and 12/31 so far and they are excellent maybe I'll
grab the rest of the run as well. Phish is hard on my DL cap

If you haven't reached your limit, and if you are enjoying 12/30 and
12/31 as much as it seems, may I suggest you try out Berkeley
8-28-93? This is one of my 5 "desert island" Phish shows...it has
just about everything you could possibly ask for. The Stash is out of
this world, Antelope has that 'early-second-set open-endedness' with
like 5 completely different movements before the gearshift, and the
YEM has a full blown Oye Como Va jam (in addition to being on fire).
This was the culmination of the most creative period of the band to
that point, add in spectacular song selection throughout the rest of
the show and a super high quality recording and, IMO, this is one of
the best Phish shows/recordings of all time. IMO, this is absolutely
must hear Phish.

August '93 is packed with maximum PHiSH. It's a creative and
performance hotspot for the band. This is when we used to walk out of
the shows unable to speak coherently, like the after-effects of the
wildest roller-coaster ride with rocket propellant. Amazingly, this
lasted for another 2+ years before there was any noticeable slack.
Then there was the Ball, and Fall ->Winter '97....

the only thing that hits harder than 12/31/93 is the hangover on
1/1/94......

people remember that it was a great show, but in my circle of friends
at the time, it was remembered simply because of all that was
forgotten......

and if that made sense, you were at the hotel in Auburn with us.....
