So I just finished reading the new Phish book by Parke Puerbaugh and I
really enjoyed the primer on Phish's history. It maybe old news to old
phans but it was all news to me. Unfortunately it left me with a
bittersweet feeling that I maybe jumping a ship that has sailed. That
because I passed up a show tape from a friend back in 1994 that I
missed a scene and a time that I can now only read about and hear on
recordings of classic shows.

I was really stoked to read about the growth and expansion of the boys
throughout the nineties and saddened by the eventual decline and
implosion. It made me appreciate the reincarnation and return of
Phish.

I would say that overal the book is a good read but may not appeal to
people that know the stories already and it is very much targeted to
Phanboys.

I have been a phan since 92 and yes you did miss some kickass Phish
years but they have really got their shit together now. After the
hiatus they played so badly i was sure they would never be as good as
they were in the early-mid 90s. But honestly they rock my balls off
again. Be sad you missed that time but be happy they are kicking ass
again.

That is the vibe I have been getting and it has been thankfully
confirmed by you and many other RMPers.

I felt the same way in the early 90's. everything happens when it
needs to happen, usually.

This might be a foolish question, but Halden, have you read The Phish
Book yet and/or watched bittersweet motel?

I think you'll really enjoy The Phish Book. Biographies are ok,
interviews just provide a more candid and insightful look at things.
For example, it's kind of tough to capture Mike's essence through
observation and narrative...you know? Great bathroom reading...
