Anyone else notice that the main character from this movie is Robert
"Fish" Fishman? Not that I'd admit to seeing it or anything (even if I
had), but I would like to think that the character name is a subtle
nod (or maybe a sly dig) to the Phans.

I had heard that there was an actual phish reference in it as well.
One of the characters saying something to the effect of "we're going
to be be bigger than phish" or "we're going to be the next phish". not
sure though...
