Reviving RMO

I first started posting on rmo in the very late 90s, and continued
until about 2010 ... when it was invaded by "girls from the orient"
and somesuch ... but have been looking at some of our old posts
and we really were (at our best) an informative and lively bunch ...
when we weren't treated to handelman's ten thousandth a day
post and dtritter's reducing every thread into foul mouthed
invective ... is there any possibility we could rebuild this site or
am I just flogging a dead horse?

Some of us never left! Granted, we get more ads for porn sites than we
once did, but there are still a few worthwhile posts, and it's easy
enough to scroll past the crap.

They do block these idiots, but it takes time.

I watched this group in the 90s but did not have the time to keep it up.
The digital broadcasts from the Met have renewed my interest. I never
got to see a ring Cycle before this for instance, and when I lived in LA
I could not afford to go very often. Now I am able to buy a selective
subscription to the SF Opera and have been able to see many that I would
not have had a chance to see previously.

I could not tell you who was the best at this or that, basically I have
to go by the recordings I have, and I know what sounds good to me.
So all the ins and outs of a particular performance can be pretty opaque
to me. For instance I see criticism of Hvorostovsky, and I personally
like his performances. sometimes I can tell when a singer has missed a
note, and other time I can not, but some followers can.

So I hope this site can come back and provide bits an pieces of
information that I can use for more enjoyment of a production.

Keep posting, maybe we can get this shriveled weed to blossom again!
