I don't think Madame Tebaldi needs your pity at this point, or ever - and
your use of "rarely" is hyperbolic.
Sharon Sweet was very good - try to hear her Met performance of Turandot -
it is exceptional. But Sharon Sweet was no Tebaldi.

I heard her today in Aida from 20 years ago and she blew me away. Everything
you want from a Verdi soprano in spades: Wagnerian in size, gorgeous-rich
middle and lower registers, huge top capable of being used very lyrically as
well, plus the ability to hit high notes DEAD ON:) Pity Tebaldi rarely
managed the latter despite her many other gifts. Did anyone hear her life.
What were your impressions.
