OH please why start this shit again, why don't you private message
him. I think in Tower Records they have a section called Old
Tenors who never made it and never will, you may find it there.

I see how interested many of you are in my career. Some to praise lavishly,
others to distort and vent their cancerous, constopated spleen. It takes all
kinds!

I just received from the publishers, Amadeus Press, a pre-publication
complimentary copy of Frieda Hempel's autobiograhy "My Golden Age of singing"
edited by William R. Moran. They thanked me for my contributions to the Hempel
lore, including anecdotes and photos of Hempel and of the historic John Rae oil
painting of Frieda Hempel in her protagonist representation as Jenny Lind in
the Jenny Lind Centennial Recital at Carnegie Hall's Main Stage back in 1923,
painted under cmission by Woman's home companion Feb 1923 issue. I own the
painting. I t hangs over my fireplace mantel piece. The fireplace [unused] is
"goalied" by box #23 from the old original Metroplitan Opera House, where
Hempel held sway in star casts with Caruso and Toscanini.

The oil painting is on my website WagnerOpera..com

The Hempel autobiography mentions in its Bibliography my Opera News, Vol 20,
Februar 13, 1956 ,3 page article on Hempel, Memories of Frieda Hempel, page
438. The Bibliography does not mention my Music Journal 2 page article on
Hempel at about the same time when Sigmund Spaeth as editor requested from me
an article describing working with Hempel.

I contributed 35 pages of snecdotes and reams of pictures, including the
painting of Hempel's Carnegie Hall re-enactment of the original Jenny Lind
recital at Castle Garden, New York. That event was to celebrate the Centennial
of Jenny Lind and occurred in 1923 at Carnegie.'s main stage..

A painting by noted portraiture artist John Rae was commissioned to celebrate
the event and it became the first color photo to appear in a magazine, Woman's
Home Companion, Feb 1923. It shows hempel accpting flowers after the concert.
It is a gorgeous oil painting.

I own the painting thanks to Frieda Hempel. Unfortunately, though I was
credited for the heart-waming picture of Hempel with baby Harriet on page 382
and acknowledgement in the Foreward on page 11 and in the Bibliography on page
438--- noting my three page article "Memories Of Frieda Hempel"Operas News Vol
20, February 13, 1956, starting on page 10---only one of the photos was
published I have not yet read the book. I would like to read it through at
one sitting to get its full impact. Its publication date is September 1st,
just a few days off.

The cost $39.95. It is in every way a superior autobiography from the earlier
released German edition "Mein Leben in Gesang".

William R. Moran and Elizabeth Johnston did a fine job of adding mucvh
collateral material and rare ghotos, one of Harriet the baby whom Frieda Hempel
cuddles has the credit, "collection of kenneth Lane.

Peolple have asked me for names and dates of concerts and opera performances.

On the other hand they, dtritter in psarticular, want me to send it to them
privately, by E-mail, not to the group. Well, if I am going to take time out
it will be available to all and sundry and particularly not so to Daisy Tilly
Ritter. dtritter's case is a case for one who belongs in a mental ward for it
appears dtritter's whole life seems to be a Fatal Attraction to slanader
Kenneth Lane, and to misqupote and generally dtritter acts like a goofball,
both in E-mail to me and to the Group, many of whom write me E-mail that they
have dtritter's "number":

For the time-being, my concentration is on my concerts and hopes to convince
talk show hosts on TV to have me on as a guest, singing before I talk.

When i do appear on interview shows I mention everything in detail, so if any
of you have questions direct them to me and I will file them away for proper
date-specific airing.

Stay tiuned.

I appredciate your interest in my career.

Some say that I am basking in the reflected glory of Wagner--not in those words
however--but why did not Melchior, Flagstad and others do those 6 songs by
wagner that I world-premiered in a commercial major venue? Let those
complain who are not participatory in history, either by choice or insufficient
talent. WAGNER himself who is on another perch, probaly still in limbo between
Valhalla and that "other" place, can not do it, cannot perform his unknown
works.

let's hear the lavish praise. And by all means let's hear it for
"constopation."

[and then we hear how poor departed Frieda Hempel couldna dunnit without
ken-be-preposterous]

I only suggested the alternative, in case he didn't want to have egg all
over his youthful face before his faithful readers.

Kennikins, I don't blame you. I'd take all and sundry over Miss Ritter
any old day.

Quite right. I had nothing to do before I heard of ken-be-orthography.
Now I can put my whole life into slanadering Kenneth Lane.

In Manhattan, the number is 721-5900
In Hiawatha, the number is a probable 12-7 [but try the trifecta]

Have you tried Jerry Springer?

Plainly they didn't want to risk comparison with ken-be-dazzling

DAFFY DAN [dtritter] mispells and misquotes and misses the point.
What should one expect of an expectorating armchair or ids it couch potato
"sexpert" who manifests his Fatal Attraction to muckraking and purposeful
misrepresentation of the facts.

He wrote to me on E-mail that he never heard of Melchior's use of the cooridors
on Melchior's tenancy floor at the Ansonia Hotel. Melchior used to bowling
alley style knock down bottles with balls. Melchior was also a man larger than
life, a charismatic personality. He drank aquavit, hunted big game and was not
above practical jokes, but HE never slandered colleagues.

DAFFY DAN [dtritter] claims that he has known of the Ansonia for four and a
half decades and has lived there for four and a half years. DAFFY DAN were you
usinmg an alias or were you just illegally in residence. The Ansonia Hotel
knows nothing about your claimed residence there.

I luckily have studied at the Ansonia for two years, in three hour weekly
seesions with Maestro Fausto Cleva, who himself accompanied me at the piano.
We would have continued, but for his death conducting Gluck's Orpheus and
Euridice at the Herod Atticus Amphitheater below the Acropis in Athens. The
transmission of TV and other audio with the astronautsin space in 1971 was
interrupted to announce that Maestro Fausto Cleva had succombed, that his was
the longest [50 years] reign as conductor of opera in the Met's History. I
also since studied ther with Emilio Roxas, the teaching coach of Martinelli.
I coached there with Virginia Gerhardt and rehearsed, auditioned and perfo on
the ground level, street-level. Does that hall exist any more?

All the best to RMO!

Skipcwjs, your ignorance of people you criticize is appalling.

Your voice is probably as close a clone to Florence Foster Jenkins as those
others--dtritter, MelissaHC,Spoint, Patience, jzdek and drakejake who never
have been applauded or recived the reviews that i have and have propperly
published in main stage CARNEGIE HALL performances with reviews for the beauty
of their voices from major music critics printed in double foll-page spread ADs
in OPERA NEWS, GRAMOPHONE,INTERNATIONAL OPERA COLLECTOR, FANFARE and SCHWANN
Classical ARTIST catalogs and, like you, are jealous of the do-ers and singers
whose voices are availble on Compact Discs, documentary of the true quality of
the performances.

Paskudnyaks like you are probably snooks, emboldened by your ambush mentality
of your identity being masked by euphemistic doggerel nomenclature, so that you
act like full-fledged smeshuggeners and meshuggeneh shmos.

The title front page of today's Sunday New York Times [August 30, 1998]

Nope. Akvavit is a drink somewhat similar to vodka, consumed ice cold
from tiny glasses, with food. It's distilled from potatoes and/or
grain and comes in many varieties, some plain, some flavored (caraway
is quite common). Some are clear, others are pale yellow.

The name is derived from the Latin "aqua vitae", i.e. "water of life".
Many Danes (and other Scandinavians) really do think of it that way
;-)

Take it from me, it's good stuff! And if Melchior drank it, that
wouldn't be unusual in any way, since most Danes do.

Hempel's book, My Golden Age of Singing, is now on sale world-wide. She was
agreat teacher for me and for tenor Eddy Ruhl, who at that time was doing guest
appearances at Radio City Music Hall in a setting of a Barber Shop, tossing off
marvelous La Donna e mobile and other chestnut favorites. Ruhl got to sing a
concert at the VATICAN no less.

One picture of mine that shows Hempel with baby Harriet is properly credited to
"Collection of kenneth Lane", butthe fantastically beautiful oil painting of
Hempel as Jenny Lind in the Jenny Lind Centennial Costume Recital, which
replicated Lind's first appearance in the USA, at Castle Garden was not used.
Too bad, but you can see it at my website Wsgneropera.com

I quoted MIndSpring's [or is it, properly, considering his etiology SprungMind]
every word in a previous post. and even then, he did not even remember his own
post to my E-mail, just the day before!

Poor boy, he draws a blank every time he has to think or consider something
dispassionately. He is indeed the most Lost Soul, with his insistence on lying
and using the four letter F word to punctuate every caesura of his non-sequitor
drivel.

Poor Beverly Sills if she had him for a worker.

His hearing must have been affected by his indiscriminate sexual fantasies.
Like the last years of Beethoven, our poor Mindspring poster seems to have
gone deaf from his sensual misdeeeds.

He claims that he visited my website. If he did he would hear what everyone
hears: a sturdy, open throated delivery of rich- timbred heroic singing with a
fully integrated interpretation and musicianship, neither slighting the other
integral ingredient of masterpiece-written music..

Reviews by noted music critics are also on my WagnerOpera.com website, but
Sprung Mind cannot read too well. He sees only what his macular-degenerated
pinhole vision with horse's blinders permits himself.

Treat yourselves RMOers to his gutter language and you need never regret
telling off your boss in too strong language.

SprungMIND is obviously headed for institutionalization.

At the rate he is posting scurvy Billingsgate talk that would make a sailor
blush, he's well on his way to being an even more addle-pated wretch.,
scrounging for his daily vegetative existence.

Hear my excerpt from Die Walkuere and the high Cs on my websiote . Then re-read
what SprungMind posted.

You'll surely be amazed that SprungMind has any degree of objectivity. His
Agenda is rotweiler-attack on those he cannot compete with.
