I just played the tenor, and it is a beautiful song. He sounds like
Josef Schmidt, but is probably not him since the sonics seem too good.
Whoever it is has a gorgeous voice.

I was impressed by both the voice and the song, both new to me. The
voice is not only lovely, but is managed with complete mastery and
interpretive nuance. But sorry, Ed, it isn't Schmidt.

Is the mezzo Susan Graham? I am not sure, but the top is so easy, and
when she sings "Helas" the lower part really sounds like her.

I think that Hahn wrote L'heure Exquise at 17 or so. Wonderful song.

The Kiss, Dear Maid, Thy Lip Has Left is sung by Jérôme Hantaï. I
never heard him or of him before, but elementary, my dear Watson,
deduction...

And yes, the Hahn is Susie Graham. Deduction encore...

I don't know Martha well, but the tenor in Mitternacht sounds awfully
like Wunderlich, so the sop. is Rothenberger?

The Winamp playlist entry gives the name away, and minimal sleuthing
finds the song and composer. I won't spoil things. I already cheated
enough.

Oops. You already gave the song and composer. So I only cheated a
little...

On #4, the composer is Beethoven, and the singer is, I think,
Holzmair.

Susan Graham it be, REG. And Dav nailed it as well. Smuggies to the
both of yer. I would marry Susan Graham were she not a George Bush
fan.

Yes and yes. And the other two are Gottlob Frick and Hetty Plumacher.
Isn't it just about the most gorgeous quartet in all of opera?

I wonder if she would be interested in a companioniate marriage? I am
very good with cooking and cleaning.

Ah, but no my dear Holmes. Hantai is the pianist and Peter Harvey the
baritone*.

* Bill K, please note.

No, Bill. As a matter of fact it's a complete stranger by the name of
Peter Harvey.

Ah. Holzmair was something of a guess, since I know that he's
recorded such material, and the voice sounded a little bit like him.
Is this from their Naive CD?

Please tell me that track 17 isn't really called "The parking kiss".

I'm afraid it is, Bill. And you can hear it here, I think.

Unless Herr Beethoven was engaged in the same pursuits as you and I
were in high school, it's probably a typo - and should be "The parting
kiss".
